Pros
After my 11 year run with CSC since being outsourced from Motorola, I'd have to say the biggest "PRO" was working from home. The pay was competitive, the benefits use to be good but that too has changed. Lower management was sincere, helpful, and cared. But their hands are tied up with upper management needs/demands.
Cons
The COE. Mike Laurey is probably getting a huge bonus for his "POD" implementation, but he is only screwing the hard, over-worked employees even more. Many companies are adopting the POD philosophy but in support NOT physical location. Moving all your talent to a POD does not save the company money NOR promote a healthy work environment. I lost my job as I refused to moved from Arizona to Pittsburg. I've always been in the top 15% of my peers for job performance but none of that mattered. Remote work is no longer being offered, only work from PODs. The benefits have slowly degraded over the years. Vacations must be used by certain times, roll overs have been greatly reduced, vacation were forced to accommodate policy, not your schedule, and not all vacation time is treated the same, very confusing. Pension plans died, and not sure what the current 401k is like anymore. Family/Work life balance is TERRIBLE. On call and long hours are very common and will consume you. These people are slave drivers! It was not uncommon to pull all nighters while on call. Different departments have no respect for each other. The patching team will take down servers then walk away and it's up to the support team to figure out what happened, etc... I could go on here all day... but you get the drift.... STAY AWAY!
