Pros

For those with only limited education i.e. “High School Degree” great pay and benefits. Glassdoor wants at least twenty words for pros, so if you enjoy working outside in snow, rain, freezing temperatures, freezing rain, thunderstorms for 12 hours, this is your job. They might let you come inside due to a hurricane or tornado, just depends on if they need to knock the signal down to show the train departed the yard on time.

Cons

A Conductor has no life, do not get married, don’t have a family. You have “ No Life” except being on call 24/7. Think you get a regular day off, think again, they can work you right into your schedule off day. About 90% of the engineers you will work with are great, love to here the crew call tell me I’m working with one of them. Well the other 10% are the ones who don’t care, break the rules and can be very difficult to work with. There’s some weird old head engineers out there "Well that’s how we done it 20 years ago" Usually you will end up tolerating most engineers, but there will be a few you will hate to work with.
