Pros

Coach used to be one of THE best retailers to work for. Amazing discounts on fabulous product, great benefits, competitive base pay with bonus structure for all associates and managers, and fantastic growth and development opportunities. For the longest time the company was focused on hiring nice people. You were held to high expectations and you were given amazing support to reach your goals. Communication is clear from corporate partners and they are easy to get in touch with. You are empowered to do what is best for the customer.

Cons

It's important to remember... Coach is a large public corporation that answers to Wall Street investors and stock holders. Now more than ever with competitors like Michael Kors and Kate Spade nipping at Coach's heels, Coach is focused on the almighty dollar. Once upon a time Coach was entirely focused on its people: both employees and customers. Now Coach needs to see the dollar results from all and will place the happiness of its people second. Almost the entire senior management that built this company into what it is has left. There is so much uncertainty of the direction of this company. Each District and Region is being run differently and if you are not a favorite of your Manager, watch out. There is still A LOT of tenure amongst Coach's Store Managers and if they are not willing to go with the new flow, they are let go and replaced with an external hire. There has also been a new emphasis on the "look" of people that were being hired, but a lawsuit must have been filed because that ended almost soon as it began.

Pros

- fast paced days with lots of client interaction and team building moments - fun product dropped monthly with opportunities to be the first to own popular drops - opportunities to grow* - a great starting place to learn how to provide an elevated shopping experience and learn how to build a client book

Cons

- * Opportunities to grow only present themselves if you have a positive relationship with the management team and/or the DM - Corporate tends to lead on candidates and promise advancements or change verbally but little is done to correct behavior or advance within the company - Your store manager will determine whether the team is harmonious and fair, can be a double edged sword - you will be asked to do tasks or take on projects outside of your position with no additional compensation. It will be heavily frowned upon to decline said opportunities and tended to lead to being denied advancements - during ICE activities in the city, Coach refused to make a statement and or provide guidelines to how we as a store should respond. Associates were punished for absences related back to ICE activities
