Pros

The people, culture, and projects are all great and are the few things I miss about Tigerspike. Everyone is passionate about what they do and the project opportunities allow for a large degree of exposure across different markets. Colleagues are more then just people you see every day and everyone is super friendly. There's opportunities to go to offices internationally and budget to visit conferences, and the company will try accomodate you if you want to relocate or even if you just don't want to be on a particular project.

Cons

Whilst there is a relatively strong tech culture, internal tooling and processes could be improved. A lot of time and energy was put into making sure the CI chain actually did what it was supposed to do; there were talks switching to an offsite CI but nothing has been actioned at the time of my departure. (Purely from my own experience) compensation is on the low end and unless you play the political game, getting a pay rise/promotion is subject to chance. On the same token, while there are great resources to grow and learn, there's no clear definition of what differentiates a Software Engineer to an Associate Software Engineer (as an example). I've seen quite a few people leave because they weren't valued despite the work they put in and also seen quite a few people promoted for no real reason. Of course, there could be other factors at work but lack of transparency only lets us see so much.

Thanks for taking time to give your considered opinion of the great - and not so great - parts of your experience. I completely share your views that our people, culture and projects are great. Enabling our people to be the best versions of themselves and to give them opportunities to learn and travel is one of the things I love about Tigerspike. And our keeping and maintaining our culture is absolutely key. Thanks for your feedback on your experience of internal tooling and processes. I can’t comment on the detail here (you definitely don’t want to let me anywhere near a CI chain!) but your comments have prompted me to check in with our senior tech team to understand what issues are being hit and what can be improved. Finally, whilst we do have specific job descriptions for roles at different levels, I’ll take on your feedback that it wasn’t clear or transparent to you about what you needed to do to move between these. There’s certainly nothing to hide here so we’ll take a look at if there’s anything we can do in the future to make it clearer for others. Once again, thanks for your comments on your experience. They’ll really help us improve in the future.

Pros

The people and team leads are nice for where I work.

Cons

For a new contract no one really knows a lot about the retailer. We are told one thing in training now other people coming in are told something else. The benefits are strange. They have medical dental and vision. But, they have no sick time at all? No vacation the pto is accrued which is fine but let’s say you need to see a doctor you can’t use it because you have to put in 2 weeks in advance? You get points for anything and everything under the sun? That I don’t understand. I worked through the years for a lot of companies and third party retailers and it was never like that. I just think no federal holiday time off is not so good especially if it’s a religious kind of holiday a family holiday.
