Pros

Local leaders and local teammates are great to work with. Local branches are great to work with.

Cons

When I was first hired everything was great but... As the years have gone one many things including retirement, car allowance, commissions, etc have either gone away completely or has been reduced overall. Next Level Leaders only care about numbers (that's what is portrayed). Executive leaders seem to only care about investor money. Pandemic response was a SH!T SHOW. The best way to help everyone is to take everyone's commissions away and give them a $400/month commission. The bridges we have burned with our partners in the past showed up heavily in the items that we were able to get during the pandemic. Senior Leadership took a "pay cut" to show solidarity with the sales teams being asked to take a pay cut on their commissions but I am sure that they were compensated with stock options or something like that. During Pandemic I was never busier in my life at Grainger but senior leaders thought that since we were being "given" $400/month in "free" commissions that we should earn it by doing so many trainings that I had no time to spend with my customers when they really needed me the most. When I stopped focusing on the trainings because they were rolled out as optional and focused on the customers the trainings all of the sudden became mandatory again. RIDICULOUS response to the pandemic.

Pros

Having worked for several other companies throughout my career, I can honestly say that Grainger provides the best employee training and development I've experienced. The amount of time, effort, and resources they invest in helping employees succeed exceeds every other company I've worked for combined. Grainger is committed to making sure everyone has the same opportunities to learn, grow, and advance. The company provides the tools, training, and support needed to build a successful career. The opportunities are there for everyone—you just need to ask questions, take initiative, and seek them out. Managers and teammates are supportive, and the overall culture encourages continuous learning and personal growth. In addition to the excellent training, Grainger offers a positive work environment, strong benefits, and a culture built on teamwork, safety, and customer service.

Cons

As with any large organization, some processes can take time due to multiple levels of approval. Workloads can also be demanding during busy periods, but the support from coworkers and leadership helps make those times manageable.
