Pros

Flexible working arrangements, decent benefits, good pay, a lot of space to move around due to the sheer size of the company (once you learn your way around).

Cons

In my department, people are promoted based on who you know and tenure at the company. There are a lot of people who have been here 10+ years. Very clan-like. Very gossipy and "State Farm nice" culture makes it difficult to foster healthy work relationships, set healthy expectations across work and silos, challenge each other respectfully to foster new thinking and innovation, and much of the work in my department is based on output rather than outcomes. They continue to put leaders over teams that are not keeping up with industry trends and instead, it's about keeping up with the competition... rather than creating a good experience for customers. Work is reactive and not proactive. I could go on... Think: "This is how we've always done it" culture, and that's what you're getting

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
