Pros

Stryker is a good company for starting your career. The majority of employees are in their 20s and 30s. You will gain exposure to how a large manufacturing company works and experience in many different areas of engineering. Salary is average, benefits are good.

Cons

They do not value long-term employees. Once you have been there too long and start making too much money, you are let go. I have seen it happen to many valuable employees. They are constantly reorganizing/restructuring, which also diminishes job security. Promotions vary greatly by department. You will either move up quickly, or never move up. Senior leadership is poor. Middle management is not given much decision making authority.

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
