Pros

At least with the store I work at, the managers are very friendly, and will listen to their employees. The atmosphere is fairly laid back, but not totally lax. I have never had any problems with my coworkers. Of course it all depends on who is running the store. I have heard some of the other stores in the area aren't run as well as the one I work at, and that is unfortunate. The also have pretty good medical coverage, although don't expect them to cover your vision. I had to pay for that out of pocket. Overall it isn't a bad place to work but don't expect to make a career out of Walgreens unless you go into management, but from what I have seen and heard, it can be very stressing.

Cons

The pay is terrible. I work in the photo dept and I started at around 8.50 an hour. We get a dollar raise every year, and that would be good if the starting wages wasn't so low. Also, working in photo can be a little frustrating at times, especially when the photo machines start getting fussy. The Nexlab machine we have now has to have it'ss printers changed every few months because the ribbon used in the printers starts sticking to the paper more and more as time goes on. Every now and then, one of the machines will glitch, either the kiosk or the nexlab, causing a lost order and an inconvenienced customer complaining.

Pros

Can be a fun environment. All in whom your staff is. Operating photo was fun and building projects for the customers. Learning about pharmacy operations.

Cons

Work life balance and low pay for what is expected. Not having enough payroll to effectively run a store. My store ran FE on a 320 hour a week budget. That was barely enough to get buy and meet the expectations put out by the company. I was never able to keep a full leadership staff. When a leader called out, I had to stay. There were days I was called away from my own dinner table. SM's were forced to be in the pharmacy for more than half of their day regardless as to what is happening in the FE. I worked over 50 hours a week and barely got to spend time with my family. If I wasn't at the store I was getting a phone call and having to go back to the store.
