A great place to start a career (beats fast food by a mile) but not a possibility for a long-term fit - Customer Service Manager Walmart Employee Review

Pros

Slightly above average pay for retail (maybe $1-2 more/hr vs competitors or fast food), safe, clean, good coworkers, good customer relationships,

Cons

Most positions forced to be part-time, never enough income to live on (you need another job on top of 20-30 hrs/week at Wal-Mart), mediocre raises- usually $0.40/hr every year. Performance review process a sham- everyone gets a "meets' expectations- even the top employees are not given an "exceeds" because they don't want to give a $0.50 raise instead of a $0.40 raise.

Pros

Fairly easy work (besides heavy loads and multiples of something), less customer facing than other roles

Cons

The usual when working at a grocery store

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
