Don't work there unless there is nothing else available and try to get your experience elsewhere if just starting. - IT Infrastructure Walmart Employee Review

Pros

Possibly good exposure to newer technologies and large enterprise environments

Cons

Pay is terrible and the bonus is being cut this year, which really was the only reason to work there for the lesser base salary. You can't count on the bonus. Management is inexperienced and unsure how to handle a growing IT envirionment. Policies and style appear to be from a store level perspective. So, if your in IT you will be managed like your working the produce dept. Little respect or understanding of "talent" or the need to keep knowledgable people on staff. Big on outsourcing and always short on staff so you can count on being over-worked. Training is often talked about but seldom applied. Saving money is their motto and they apply it to labor.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
