Pros

Good benefits and work from home.

Cons

It’s really important to know- this role is not your typical Account Manager/Customer Success role. This is an elevated customer service role. If you come from a strong AM/CSM background, this is not going to be the job for you. This role makes you feel like I work in debt collections because it’s all asinine billing calls- with low tier clients who really don’t have an understanding of anything, even basic competency. I would say, in more than half of your daily interactions with clients- you will be deeply harassed by them, so do not be surprised. I am no stranger to high stress, hard work, but this is a different level. Internally, things run absolutely terribly, I have not seen worse in my professional career thus far. I have worked for multiple Silicon Valley tech companies, so I thought Yelp would be similar internally and have streamlined processes, but this is not the case. There’s a deep lack of general support, teams do not communicate with one another, and there are major inconsistencies and discrepancies on day to day operations. I mean it, there’s an egregious lack of basic structure, and everyone suffers because of it- including (most importantly) the clients. I’ve never worked for such a large company that operates so poorly. They are the reason for most of their pain points, I truly believe it’s a choice. Like someone else already stated in another review, they desperately need a leadership overhaul. They need external hires within leadership to set them back on track. The turnover rate for this role is extremely high, you think you know “high”- it’s higher. This is not your, “typical San Francisco company”, they do not embody the culture at all. I truly question their ethics. I took this job as a last resort, so only get on board if you have absolutely no other choice- I wouldn’t even utilize this role as an entry to get further into the company, because you can tell, it’s not just this position, there’s a systemic issue deep within the company. The way they operate is NOT normal and I don’t think the well tenured people are aware how unhealthy the internal operations are because they don’t know anything else other than Yelp. Do yourself a favor, listen to the reviews. It really is that bad!
