Decent for students run if you are anyone else
May 13, 2023 - Material Handler in Omaha, NERecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
FedEx offers a decent tuition reimbursement program that helps if you are like me and had to pay college out of pocket. The hours don't interfere with most classes and meeting minimums nets a decent pay. The work is relatively straight forward. You get to learn various pieces of airport equipment and stacking can be very enjoyable sometimes.
Cons
TLDR -Job not worth the pay -Bad culture -Virtually no incentive to do better Pay is way too low and the benefits don't help you much if you're younger. Overworking with no rewards is a big problem. No matter how much you do you will likely see yourself making as much as a new hire that has come in years later since FedEx only offers universal pay "raises" (like 2%). The requirements to work here are way higher than the pay suggests. Airport paperwork and multiple tests are needed. On the topic of those badges if you happen to lose it, that's a 75 dollar fee and you can't work until you get a new badge meaning one easy to make mistake takes almost a 4th of a weekly check! Management is near non existent and the reward for working is usually some cheap dessert. And don't even think about bringing up these problems upper management will hit you with the "It's like that because we're family" thing then proceed to do nothing about it. The culture of this job promote laziness, you are paid hourly yet told to go faster for no rewards which means to optimize your pay you should work slowly and squeeze as many hours out as you can.

Pros
1. Being your own boss 90% of the day 2. Experience beautiful parts of the county and or city while being outdoors 3. Make great connections with businesses and customers alike, you never know who you may create a friendship with for future prospects. 4. Consistent hourly wage increases thus far. 5. Good health benefits with company matching 401k contributions in addition to employee perks benefiting your personal life (car buying discounts, lodging, flying etc).
Cons
1. You don’t get to choose the people you work around, which can be trying at times and people like to talk. 2. You don’t have an established route so each day can be a different and difficult route throughout your city/county which at first is emotionally taxing. 3. YOU’RE OUTSIDE NO MATTER THE CONDITIONS, COME PREPARED 4. Physical labor is your job, I lost 25 lbs in the first 3 months and I’m an active person so it was a bit shocking going from 200 lbs - 175lbs and eating 3000 calories a day. 5. Vacation selection is based upon a “bid system” and seniority so when you start you’re at the bottom of the totem pole for vacation, which you have to bid for IN ADVANCE.. 6. Our “Peak Season” (November - January) can be rough with 10 - 12 hour work days so expect a few sacrifices but it’s worth the money.

Pros
You stay busy so your day goes by fast you get to meet a lot of people.
Cons
The speed restriction on the vehicles are actually dangerous. Speed limit around here is 60. They won't go no faster than 65. We get scored on our driving every week and we get docked points because of the cameras but that's not right because the cameras half the time are not calibrated or picking up cars to the side when not in front of you. I have to use a panel van so it has no shelves there's only three hooks that are super high have the packages slide right underneath it

Benefits make it more worth sticking through it
May 25, 2023 - Courier in Indianapolis, INRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Tuition reimbursement, decent pay, 401k match of up to 8%. For the most part if you do your pickups/deliveries on time, managers will leave you alone. Opportunity for advancement exists but unless you want to move into management, the path can be a little unclear.
Cons
Communication is lacking, expectations change and people are not told. Managers seem too busy to worry about necessary route changes or actually solving problems. Working harder often results in being rewarded with more work. Hard work is often rarely recognized.

May 18, 2023 - Material Handler in Fort Worth, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
good pay, and benefits available 30 days in that are good as well as an abundance of hours outside of your shift, and many skills that can be perfect additions to a resume
Cons
fast paced heavy lifting that allows for few mistakes for where the individual packages need to go, antiquated paper punch time clock system, can only access time off benefits and anything besides check stubs on the hubs intranet system for no apparent reason.
