I worked at Germania Insurance full-time

    Pros

    Not many "Pros" left.

    Cons

More Cons than Pros for sure. After 2016 and 2017 I wouldn't send anyone to apply here.

    Advice to Management

They don't care for advice, so why bother.

I have been working at Germania Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not many to talk about anymore at one time I could go on and on.

    Cons

The company has been taken over by people in upper management from Liberty mutual. The prior claims director was great . But now 60% of the people that helped build this company are gone. They are trying to run this company like AllState or Liberty Mutual. They are the kind of companies that don’t care about there employees. In claims you worry if you will have a job week to week.

    Advice to Management

Take out all the Liberty Mutual ideas and get back to the values of being a Texas company not New York or Boston. Customers even see how your treating your employees

I worked at Germania Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good people. Ok pto. That is it.

    Cons

Where do I start? Upper management is totally clueless. The claims department has been depleted and managers cannot figure out why. Middle managers make the rules up as they go. Absolutely zero consistency, ask 5 different managers the same question, you get 5 different answers. The claims department is in total chaos. The absolute worst leadership I have ever seen in an organization. The pay structure is an... absolute joke. The absolute worst thing, as an employee at Germania, you as an employ are to abide by the company core values, honesty being one of the values., and employees there do. But these values do not values do not apply to management.

    Advice to Management

Advice has been given, not taken, and again they cannot figure why there is a mass exodus.

I have been working at Germania Insurance

    Pros

The few employees that have been here for longer than the 60% of the department that are new hires. The newer hires have no idea what Germania used to be.

    Cons

    - Repeated and consistent changes that have done nothing but harm the employees of the company through pay restructuring, subtle retirement restrictions, unfair job evaluation tools, and vacation limitations. - Dishonestly and a lack of real transparency from upper management. - Trying to change the entire culture of the company into one that mimics the very worst aspects of the insurance industry at large. -... Repeated examples of supremely qualified internal candidates being overlooked for positions. All while barely qualified external candidates are chosen and then promoted at accelerated paces while the loyal employees are ignored. - People that dissent with upper management are frequently singled out and attempts are made to scapegoat them or attempts are made to dig up dirt on them in order to come up with a pretext for demotion or firing.

    I worked at Germania Insurance

    Pros

Germania has pretty good benefits, especially paid time off. Many employees can have flexible work schedules.

    Cons

Commute to and from Brenham is challenging and limits the talent pool. The company seems to be "behind the times" in many respects.

    Advice to Management

Keep bringing on experienced employees to the company and listen to what they have to offer to help the company grow.
