I worked at HCL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the Bothell, Washington office; obviously, HCL is a huge company and your mileage will vary depending on your office and client.

    * Benefits are very good for what the job is--healthcare, in particular, is excellent, and ability to get time off is fairly generous for an American company.
    * Plenty of snacks, including cereal for breakfast. You won't go hungry.
    * On-site management from HCL were generally pleasant to work with.
    * Co-workers were great and genuinely care about your well-being.
    * Expectations are very low, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view. I had plenty of time to teach myself new skills and work on personal projects that ended up making me more employable down the road.

    Cons

    * The transition from the prior contractor to HCL in this office was botched, to put it mildly. The HR representative that they flew in to guide the transition repeatedly lied or made stuff up regarding time off, benefits, etc. The incompetence of her and her team cost several good employees their jobs and is difficult to forgive.
    * Low compensation.
    * Client work is tedious, repetitive, and metric-oriented to a fault.
    * No real incentive structure. Management won't or can't fire you if you're hitting your productivity metrics, but won't do anything special for you for exceeding them (in fact, it'll just lead to your team finishing their task more quickly and getting let go sooner).
    * Relatedly, very little room for advancement within the company. "Promotions" to QC and Meta-QC roles do not come with pay raises. Any real effort you put into this job will be strictly for lines on a resume and a good word from your boss.
    * The client ramps down projects regularly, leading to employees being shuffled around the office, and every time you get re-trained to go on a new team you go back to the starting salary.

(This may not matter that much to most, but one thing that constantly irked me: the website that this company leans on heavily to do virtually everything that isn't day-to-day work for the client, is an unholy mess. Tasks like applying for leave, submitting timesheets, and changing your manager are all huge headaches. Documentation, when it exists, is in broken, barely comprehensible English. For an institution that claims to be a technology company, it's an embarrassment.)

I have been working at HCL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Healthcare is pretty cheap...thats it.

    Cons

You're just a number, no career growth, no raises, management only cares about bottom line. Plus, if you travel, it comes out of your pocket and can take weeks before being reimbursed.
