    Positive Outlook

I have been working at HSS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For motivated employees there are real opportunities for growth as the company expands and adds new clients and facilities.

    Cons

Below living-wage pay for most entry level security positions, management (the good old boy's club) is out of touch with the challenges faced by employees, outdated technology, and a focus on "lean thinking" that translates to under-staffing and burnout among current staff.

    Advice to Management

Expand benefits to include modern standards such as paid sick days, increased vacation, and better employer matching on the 401k.

I have been working at HSS (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours, good benefits, pay more than the average for unarmed officer

    Cons

not much choice in uniform wardrobe, some places have bad management,

    Advice to Management

have like a catalog of HSS Approved uniform, like keep the standard shirts and pants but make like accessories available, like hats, other types of sweaters & jackets, maybe even sunshades, and maybe have some things for supervisors.

I have been working at HSS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Uninvolved, disengaged, missing in action leadership. Nobody really messes with you from the upper ranks.

    Cons

Same as above. This is a "Con" if you really care about what you do and providing the best customer service.

    Advice to Management

Better vetting of new hires, stop allowing unlicensed officers to work unchecked and allowed to carry tazers. There are laws ya know. Hire Site Supervisors that want to be part of the team, not just bench warmers we see only once a month.....if we're lucky.

I have been working at HSS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of OT. And if you're a young person just getting out of school and don't know what to do next this is perfect as you work daily with tons of different medical professionals, law enforcement, EMT etc. So finding something you'd like to pursue for the future is easy.

    Cons

High turnover rate. Mandatory OT if your relief calls out. Don't get paid enough for what medical staff sometimes asks us to do. And I've seen so many people who started working after me advance into management roles simply off of favoritism alone. I know I'm fit for the role but management doesn't give me the time of day. They sure do acknowledge my existence when they need someone to hold over for overtime though. All in all this is a decent company to work for. Just know that they do contract with hospitals and airports so officers are needed 24/7, 365 days a years. Meaning your work schedule may or may not outweigh your life balance.

    Advice to Management

Reward the officers that you know are doing a great job. Don't just reward people because they're your friends or because they worship the ground you walk on. Some of the hardest working guys I know are still blue shirts and some of the laziest I know are white shirts. It doesn't add up.
