    I worked at Healthtrax part-time

    Pros

Upscale Environment as far as gyms go
Not a very demanding job provided you can keep the place clean, make smalltalk with client, properly adjust machines, have towels retrieved from locker rooms and washed, dried, and folded once every hour or two.
Good part time or summer job for young people or students.

    Cons

    Mostly older clients.
Not much room for advancement unless you get more advanced certification.
    On your feet frequently.
    Minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps spend less time in office and interact with all employees and clients to gain
insight into your own business instead of putting a badgering sales people to draw blood from a stone.

I worked at Healthtrax full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Relatively laid back, unaccountable atmosphere
Great for people who like being fit and want to be in a gym environment
People with previous sales experience can do okay
Co-workers are usually great, especially trainers and group fitness staff

    Cons

Pay is not worth the amount of work they burden you with
    Sales training is terrible
Schedule never gives you 2 days off in a row per week
    No direct deposit
Consistently and knowingly set sales goals at higher level than is possible to meet
Overwhelmed by archaic system of paperwork
No HR to receive or handle personnel issues
Arrogant management treat employees like "the help"
Management "supervises" instead of leads, expects you to do all their work for them
Places burden for generating leads entirely on sales staff
No flexibility in strategy or best practices even though they consistently fail
Management and corporate are sitting pretty while the underlings suffer
Huge turnover rate in non-management positions for good reason
Used car salesman-style tired sales approach drives customers away
    Zero career growth opportunities
No technical knowhow -- no social media, CRM is outdated and frustrating
No sense of team environment or company pride, all about hitting the number
Meetings are a waste of time, just rehash the same old strategy that doesn't work
"We're doing everything perfectly" while the ship is going down attitude and has ZERO apologies for it
Management consistently takes the path of least resistance, takes days off whenever they want, don't even talk to members, just sit in their office for 6 hours a day and expect everyone else to do their job for them
Anytime anyone has a real issue with equipment, facilities upkeep, customer service, or mistreatment by management, all you hear are excuses, excuses, excuses until the person just leaves.

Nobody takes responsibility for the major problems this company has, and it seems as if nobody ever will. As long as ownership is off in la-la land, the parasites and useless eaters in the company will continue sucking its blood and running it into the ground. Don't work here unless you are that kind of person, because you won't fit in at all.

    Advice to Management

Hire a consulting firm and overhaul your outdated systems
Create an HR department that actually listens to employees
Bring in new blood with good credentials to weed out underperforming managers
Get feedback from employees to find out what is actually going on at your clubs
Improve marketing departments and use social media
Listen to your trainers about what to include and improve in the club
Focus more on customer retention rather than just top filling as people quit
Conduct real sales training from external groups that know what they are doing
Hire real marketing people who can expand business and brand awareness
Use direct deposit and treat your employees as well as you treat the "management club"
Owners need to take more interest in their company if they don't want it to fail
Good employees are consistently driven out by managers who are insecure and fail to reward good work with praise, adequate reward, or advancement -- if this continues, the company will die while mediocre managers collect their salary as the place crumbles into the ground because customers are dissatisfied with service and opt for newer, better run facilities
Care about your customers instead of seeing them as "marks" to be exploited

    I worked at Healthtrax part-time

    Pros

    The lifeguarding was fairly easy

    Cons

There is a creep who works maintenance that acts inappropriately towards many female workers. The pool heater frequently breaks. Administrators often make promises they do not keeps and are largely unreliable. They also often times "check up on" staff which is a bit demeaning. Most staff I encountered are unhappy there.

    Pros

You get exactly what you put in. If you're given clients and can keep them active, encouraged and satisfied- you'll be able to build up your client base by word of mouth. When working with children, word travels fast in the "mom world". If the kids enjoy your classes, their parents will recommend you to their friends.

    Cons

I think the company would retain good employees if they paid more. Unless you're in upper management, it can be difficult to raise a family on most of these salaries.

    Advice to Management
