I have been working at Highwinds full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very technological focus, very flexible company with fast access to high management. Great place to work, focused in the integration of the teams and good health of the employees.

    Cons

separated offices make it tough to keep the same culture

I worked at Highwinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - If you're an IT rookie you'll get decent data center and computer networking experience.
    - They pay for your certs (CCNA, Linux+, etc.)
    - Growth opportunities.

    Cons

    - Low wages compared to industry average. This may be seen as a pro if you're a rookie because once you have NOC experience it will be easy for you to get a higher wage at another NOC. Most of the turnover was because people were simply offered more money to do the same job somewhere else.

    - There's management issues. Tons of other reviews cover this so I won't go into it.

    Advice to Management

    - Increase wages.

I worked at Highwinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of events and employee "benefits"

    Cons

Bad management. Terrible growth Even the events feel forced like they are required.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about performance rather than how long youve known somebody

I worked at Highwinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Employee perks
    Benefits
    It's in Winter Park

    Cons

Middle management is a mess - too many chiefs, too many "big" personalities
    Poor communication between departments
Employees hung out to dry my management
High turnover rate thru attrition and dismissals, the perks aren't enough to make up for the poor working atmosphere

    Advice to Management

Get rid of some of the egos in management.
Create a better, friendlier system/atmosphere for communications between departments & facilities, not so acerbic or cutthroat.

I have been working at Highwinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Highwinds has all of the opportunity and challenge of a startup, while still providing the salary and stability of a more mature company. If you want to move things forward and are willing to put in the work - you can make amazing things happen here.

    Cons

There is much to do and many different sites to manage, so you really need to be motivated, organized and strategic to make a difference here. If you are looking for a standard, boring gig where everything stays the same and is clearly laid out for you, you should look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

The quarterly prioritization of large projects is helpful...keep it up.

I have been working at Highwinds full-time

    Pros

Highwinds has a casual and fun environment and offers good benefits. The CEO and top executive team are genuinely nice people.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement or professional growth except for a chosen few. Extravagant events but no budget for pay raises or bonuses, or so we're told. Management encourages unethical business practices and blatantly lies to your face, which I've come to realize on several occasions. Some managers don't have the experience or skill to lead a team which undermines the efficiency and success of employees. No job security or stability.

    Advice to Management

Transparency, honesty, and open communication are important. Management should focus on being good leaders and encouraging growth in employees instead of ruling with an iron fist and providing no direction or feedback.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work with product team to ensure there are products that will create value for prospects
