I worked at Integrated Device Technology full-time
Pros
Nice campus, usually great colleagues at a junior level... but senior guys are cahoots with incompetent people heading key groups, who in turn suck up to the most calculating CEO I have ever seen (a wolf in sheep's clothing)
Cons
The CEO (Waters) is a class act in corporate deception... nice smile, looks genuine, but an utterly political and mean guy, who commands his equally corrupt and spineless HR to play his games....
Advice to Management
You are sold to Renesas... good riddance to Waters (CEO) soon... hope he drifts into eternal darkness (yes make him rich if that's what it takes to see him off forever)

I have been working at Integrated Device Technology full-time (More than 5 years)
Pros
Good people, good pay and decent benefits
Cons
Understaffed in many areas, Very long hours with very little reward. Strategic direction is not real clear as many of the products targeted are not developed yet and execution is questionable. Career path or potential advancement is very, very limited.
Advice to Management
Don't abandon what made IDT what it is today. Failed acquisitions over the past 3 years have misaligned the company and dissolved any synergy that existed between the product lines. Numerous reorganizations have company morale on the decline and the culture change is very concerning to many.

Shift product mix toward analog / mixed-signal is good corporate strategy. Well run financially. Fair, friendly, team-players. Good work / life balance. Nice HQ facilities & relaxing environment.
Cons
Socially conservative and heavily PC culture that needs passion and excitement.
Limited award / recognition & professional training programs.

I have been working at Integrated Device Technology full-time
Pros
IDT's traditional business areas are healthy and doing extremely well, especially for its size.
Cons
This review is intended for the OID division, which was formed by acquiring GigPeak/GigOptix. The optical business depends highly on China, and with the recent slow-down the business is not doing well. The design team works on many designs, but there are not enough resources to support all of them. There is no cooperation and support between teams. On top of that, the designs are years behind their competitors, so they can only compete in price which is never a good place to be. The management lacks respect for engineering, and there was essentially no communication, forecast, and planning from the management. This results in every single product and project becoming last-minute emergencies when a customer decides to buy one (if ever), and everything becomes priority. The employees work very hard to make things happen, but this being repeated time after time have resulted in extremely low morale and frequent turn-overs.
If you enjoy hard work without recognition, this place is for you.
Advice to Management
Hire competent engineers, empower them by letting them have the resources and time to work, and focus on a fewer projects instead of way too many. Hold frequent reviews to include all teams even in the design phase, so that things do not become emergencies. Many problems can be avoided if there are regular reviews. Actually respect your employees and the work they do, not bully them into pointless overtime to cover your own short-comings.
