I worked at Kangaroo Express full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None. This company doesn’t care about their staff.

    Cons

Long hours. Rude upper management. Improper use of power.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to listen to employees

  3. "Assistant Manager/Cashier"

    Pros

I worked as an assistant manager and cashier with this company. I was promoted very soon after starting (I had previous management experience), and had a really good team working with me. From my experience with the company, it is much more laid back than working for a big box retailer or in the restaurant industry. Standards are high for customer service and cleanliness, but this job won't consume your whole life.

    Cons

Low hours and a lack of attainable benefits are problematic for many employees. Employee turnover can also be an issue, leading to the only serious stress in this job, as schedules will often need to be adjusted last minute to cope with it.

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to try to lure a smaller number of full-time employees to the business (rather than several part-timers) with better pay and benefits as an inducement to stay.

Listen to and follow through with employee complaints.

I worked at Kangaroo Express part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The training location was incredibly friendly and helpful in learning the basics. Free soft drinks during your shift.

    Cons

The pay is terrible in my area. The manager and staff gave little to no help on learning the rest of the day to day procedures. Earlier shifts often left certain areas dirty. The location was one that required more than 1 employee on any shift but the store was often left to a single new hire to run, even overnight.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay for all shifts and positions. Make sure each location has multiple people working per shift.

    Pros

I was able to be independent and learn to manage a store with an advanced skill of multi-tasking. I was especially young when I had this job, so having it was quite the teaching experience.

    Cons

I was generally the only one in the store most days. Expect the stores to be understaffed. So when customers came in to ask me questions, I would have to call my manager while being glared down.

    Advice to Management

All I can advise is that you make sure that you have all the staff that you are technically qualified to have.
