One of the best at extracting life energy from their employees

    Nov 23, 2022 - Software Engineer

    Pros

Keysight is a great place to work. Few employers can suck more life from its employees. They enable you to work tremendously hard for many hours a day. It's corporate values are unrivaled and completely fabricated. Keysight will make you believe in them corporate values, work-life balance, and care for its people while delivering on none - a truly remarkable skill. Few executives know how to make you feel good about low pay and lack of employee appreciation while delivering profits to themselves and their shareholders. A truly amazing place to work.

    Cons

Unless you don't like long hours and low pay, I don't think you can go wrong. I guess they do insist on their employees to take lots of training on phishing, corporate security, and export control which hurts the 100-hour work week production just a touch.

A great company to work for.

    Pros

Working for KT was a dream come true. I'd set my sights on the Turboencabulator field early on when picking a major in magneto-reluctance and a and a minor in goniometrics. Work culture was excellent, management open-door policy was actually true, and employee contributions are valued and are in no way superficial or patronizing. The company stresses work-life balance wherever possible, and pay and benefits are definitely above average for the greater Cudahay metro area, and more than adequate to cover, if not exceed the local cost of living. I only departed KT very reluctantly when family issues forced a relocation to St. Francis. Remote WFH wasn't possible due to the hands-on nature of magneto-reluctance testing. KT upper management even went so far as to see if a St. Francis branch would be viable! (Alas, it was not...)

    Cons

You'll never want to leave. "Golden Handcuff" syndrome in a big way, but a good one. Explaining to family and friends, or new employers exactly what KT does, and the importance of Turboencabulation to phase inductance and entanglement realization activities.

Good Place, Good People, Good Culture,

    Pros

After the 2017 fire in Santa Rosa, Keysight made sure to take care of its employees who were affected. To this I commend them a great amount. I had to take leave for out of country trips. Management didn't blink at me taking 4 weeks off. There was enough overlap of engineers to make sure work was covered. The ping pong table by the cafeteria has had some legendary matches. Same with the chess tables placed under green vines. Great employee introduction program "nextGen" which paired all entry level, out of college/gradschool employees for actaul fun activities. ex: giant's game, renting out activity centers, huge river rafting trips, etc The institutional knowledge is LARGE. So many smart individuals, who are humble and willing to help, mentor, aid, and teach.

    Cons

The work can get boring after a while. Not much room for growth. Much of the positive culture is from the remnants of "The HP Way", and I'm afraid that once all the people who made HP great finally retire, corporate vultures are gonna gut the company and its values. There's a reason Carly Fiorina is despised at this site. Her 90s corporate redo of the company deviated from the culture of "taking care of employees". Can't make predictions of the future, but which form of leadership will lead to long term retention of talent?
