    Pros

The best of the best work here.
    Vertically integrated manufacturing.
Everyone here wants you to learn and succeed.
Will always be at the bleeding edge of test and measurement.

    Cons

The pay does not reflect the quality and the difficulty of the work.
The area is very expensive, making it difficult to want to stay and plant roots.
Significant disconnect with upper upper management and the people who are actually designing the products.

    Pros

Benefits are good if in CA, outside of CA they use United HC - not so great; good matching for 401k; most employees are 'good people'; hardware products are solid

    Cons

Be ready for the 90's when it comes to internal systems; no clue how to bring on new employees; no documentation of past/present processes; the culture can be very chain-of-command; new sales VP's for hardware and services are worsening the culture and turning people on each other - survivors are throwing others under the bus trying to save their own skin; services business let the real strategic people go and tripping over itself - won't ever be able to scale; hardware engineering moving slow and allowing competitors to easily catch up and pass; Marketing as a whole is almost comical - not sure anyone in Marketing has ever worked anywhere else or studied marketing; most field people could not work outside this company or industry; travel gets restricted in the last month of every quarter, illustrating poor financial management and planning.

    Advice to Management

Just not sure WTH senior management is thinking most of the time. Their planning and communications are laughable most of the time. The whole 'This is the way we've always done it' is leaving you in the dust. Leverage new blood when it comes in the door.

Too conventional. Not value strong players/engineers as much as managers

    Advice to Management

    Reward engineers more than managers

    Pros

When Management messed up with product line, end up have nothing to do for several years. What is better than nothing to do?

    Cons

Then they shut down the place, and take away everything.

    Advice to Management

Do not copy competitor's product and believe you could do 20% better, that is old. Problem is, when you get their and 20% better than competitor, competitor moved on and is 200% better. Another advise: you put a white middle aged MBA to be in charge of a place, that white middle aged MBA is going to hire several more MBA to "manage", non of them knows how to innovate. Then all those MBAs are very good at: hiring and firing, merge and spin off, but not innovating. When a smart employee perform well, you should promote that employee, instead you just add more layers of more MBAs on top of those excellent employee. You MBAs suck.

    Pros

Vacation available to employee as soon as you start and don't have to wait to accrue. CEO treatment of employees after devastating fire is admirable and well received.

    Cons

Still trying to define image since break off from HP & Agilent. Salaries not as competitive but it is nice to get your vacation upfront and don't have to wait a few years to accrue.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that all manager at all locations embrace the culture and message being pitched at the corporate location .

    Pros

    Good for cruise to retirement

    Cons

With antiquated products and no place for ambition, this place is the Kodak of Silicon Valley, except that its core products are still needed in some places, so they will survive, but its hardly a place for innovation. With stringent corporate policies, they tie you down and squander innovation. That is why they can't attract and retain talent. The IT and HR systems are so outdated, that you need to exhume an old windows laptop to access them.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up a bit, empower and embrace change... this is 2018!

    Advice to Management

    Cons

Larger company can be more difficult to navigate when you are not at headquarters. Less personal touch and more line management responsibilities.
