Pros

Pay is higher than industry, free lunches, great, mature product

Cons

Professional Services management seems to like putting out fires so much that they do not even try to prevent them, SOP's not followed nor being enforced as it relates to implementation and delivery which allows for varied results, fires, etc. allowing the cycle to repeat itself over and over again, management very much focused on numbers which are not being met, to no surprise, with no change in approach (definition of insanity), culture due to lack of strong, unified leadership at local level in Dallas. People just go to work and go home. Very robotic like where management makes you feel like a resource and not like you're on the same team.

Thank you for the feedback. While I can't speak to your individual experience, we will certainly respect your comments and advice, and will treat them with the seriousness they deserve. You are also welcome to call me directly at any time, and we can speak confidentially. We pride ourselves on the positive culture at M-Files, and believe that's the key reason that very few employees choose to leave. We compete in a large and competitive market, and are growing dramatically faster than the market overall, and faster than any other single competitor. It's true that our rapid growth and highly competitive market creates a fast-paced and dynamic environment that is also sometimes hectic and high-stress. Regardless, the only way we can continue to grow and succeed as we have in the past is by creating high value for our customers, and the only way we can do that is by retaining employees. That requires that we maintain an environment where people enjoy working. Again, your personal experience notwithstanding, we feel our strong employee retention and rapidly increasing base of satisfied customers indicates we're doing that well overall. Like other fast growing companies, M-Files is constantly evaluating and refining our processes and organization, so your feedback is appreciated. No doubt, there is always room for improvement, so in that light, thanks again, and best of luck in the future.

Management Failed in Almost Everything

Pros

Free lunch, good benefits, flexible work hours, (mostly) friendly people.

Cons

First, the management did the hiring like crazy, then a few months later, it did the firing like crazy as well. It seems that the management has no clue in running a business, no long-term good plan. No transparency. Full of secrecy. The management likes to tell lies to the employees. Not good. Bad management. The employees feel uneasy wondering when he/she'll get cut next.

My name is Greg Milliken, a senior member of management at M-Files, and I want to respond to your review. I think your advice to listen to employees is good advice, and I can say we really try to do that. It's possible that you feel your manager or other managers or executives aren't listening, but they are. I know every manager probably doesn't do this with exactly the same approach or effectiveness, so maybe something could be improved on your team or department. Your comment also caught my attention, because I've recently been involved in company wide strategy workshops where literally everyone is listened to. I've never seen that done at any other company I've worked for in quite the same open and encouraging way. You may not see your ideas or input implemented, but that is different than the input being received in an open minded way. Your comment about "not much allowed," is interesting to me as well, and it's invariably true that as we grow there is more structure and process, but to be honest, the company needs more of that, rather than less. Not everyone agrees with how that gets done, so maybe there is something you wanted to do that a manager or senior executive prevented or was against, I'm not sure. I'd sincerely like to hear what that was. I can't promise you that that ends up with you being "allowed" to do what you want, but I am sincerely offering you the path to getting there. What is absolutely true, is that each member of the M-Files team has it in their hands to impact the company in fundamental ways. It appears you still work for the company, so if you do, I would encourage you to reach out to me directly, confidentially. If you really want to help create the environment and culture you want, then you need to help us create that. I can assure you you will be heard.
