I have been working at MKS Instruments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Benefits package is good
Employees are allowed to function with autonomy
Access to industry experts and technology leaders thought the company

    Cons

Resource and staff limited, reinvestment into organization is not strong
Organization broken into silos, roles and responsibilities poorly defined
Pay increases, options, vacation awarded based on seniority

    Advice to Management

The vision of Profitable and Sustainable Growth looks good from the outside but has not been effectively driven to meaningful goals at lower levels in the organization.

    Pros

Co-workers. Impossible to sum up such a complex situation in a few sentences.

    Cons

No career opportunities. Zero. None. No advancement is possible. I have not seen anyone ever move to higher responsibilities.

I worked at MKS Instruments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary is based on industry evaluation.

    Cons

Be prepared to be run like a dog. Expected from management you to work through the weekends based on your annually salary.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at MKS Instruments full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stability was the only reason why I stayed and great full package benefits.

    Cons

No opportunity to grow or get promoted! Yearly raises were cheap and boost medical insurance every year after a raise.. Breaks even again.. So it's like you're not getting a raise. Co workers really suck! Alot of gossip and nosy people. Management, group leaders, and supervisors all kiss butt one another and they do favoritism, so be prepared for retaliation when you go against them.

    Advice to Management

Stop favoritism.. It is not fair and stop making up your own rules as we go instead of flowing HR policies.

I have been working at MKS Instruments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Supportive, provide training, decent work life balance.

    Cons

Not overly progressive, people work here a long time, not a lot of new ideas

    Advice to Management

Push some of the decision making down to the director/manager level. Too much authority/responsibility at the high levels of leadership.

I worked at MKS Instruments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent working environment. Excellent people. Each employee is able to make a difference.

    Cons

Coffee is not free. Many contractors come and go.

    Advice to Management

Full time employees feel pride and belonging. Contractors are just there to do a job and should be spending some of their time looking for the next gig.

I have been working at MKS Instruments full-time

    Pros

Fast paced and exciting work with cutting edge supplier and customer relationships. A true look behind the curtain for most high tech fields.

    Cons

Cash heavy company continues to decrease benefits and more inclined to bring in outside talent than promote from within. Receive regular notifications of Corporate level promotions with difficulty in acquiring tools with absurdly low purchasing power for local managers.

    Advice to Management

Return to impact based merit increases and/or bonus plans. Hard working innovative individuals are thrown the same accounting based merit increase as others who might just be putting in their time.
