    Positive Outlook

I have been working at MYMIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small business provides opportunity to work somewhat independently and be more directly rewarded for individual efforts. Opportunity to interact directly with customers.

    Cons

Smaller company size offers fewer resources, however more learning opportunities in multitasking. While it might take more time to deliver projects, getting to completion and delivery to the customer is very satisfying.

I worked at MYMIC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Initially a fantastic company to work for. Great management and pay was respectable. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow.

    Cons

Once the company started to grow and broke into two business units it became a mess. There was minimal communication between the groups and the C-Suite began to fancy themselves infallible. Some bad decisions were made in hiring new senior leaders and then compounded when they selected their new CEO. After they began to fire the wrong people it was pretty clear where they were headed. Sadly the company let most of its talent go and wasted what little remained until most of them also quit. Hard to see how they can sustain another year or two given their track record and the poor leadership they have put in place.

    Advice to Management

Re-adjust your top leadership. The original founder's had a vision once but it was lost a long time ago when they put new upper managers in place. When you value the bottom line over developing real talent and products you get what you deserve. If its not to late you should clean house at the top before the last shreds of credibility are lost (it's pretty well known in your industry circles that you will cheat a customer to put some more dollars on the ledger).

I worked at MYMIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great front-line people to work with.

    Cons

Ownership is MIA and has been for years. Relied to much on CEO who was all talk with no plan and no real intelligence behind what actions he took.

    Advice to Management

Fire the CEO, or simply get away from him as fast as possible without him filing a wrongful termination suit. Then, find another line of business where you actually want to be involved on a daily basis. To the Chairman of the Board of Directors: you are a smart man who knows his Marketing. You take back control of that function and take back control of the business. At you level, you should be involved in the uncovering of strategic opportunities via a robust program of Market Intelligence that yields leads on industries and segments relevant to what your business provides. Be evidence-driven in your marketing and insist that others are as well in their marketing proposals to you. Don't let anybody undertake any marketing program without showing you their research, their plan and their rationale for whey they think they have a better than %50 chance of success. This research and plan should cover competitors in the chosen field, overall sales of the product or service they are thinking of selling, and the approach to market (strategy) they are thinking of taking and why it it will result in competitive surprise and business accomplishment. Commit to a strategy of incremental commitment: test market, then roll-out, then constant monitoring via regular weekly metrics. Don't be afraid to take drastic action early if business plans do not yield fruit. Always have new project proposals coming in from the employees, but square it up against what you know from your strategic knowledge gained from your Market Intelligence program and your dealings from people out in the industries. I fear it is too late for MYMIC. LLC, but take my advice for any future businesses you think you might want to become involved in.

    Pros

A couple good senior manager that understand the importance of judgement, knowledge and engagement for the workforce.

    Cons

Unfortunately some bad apples have created an supportive culture that good people are still working to evolve.

    Advice to Management

Better connection and understanding of stakeholder challenges. Diagnosis the root issues, develop new policies to guide the actions and initiatives to solve these high-stakes challenges.

I worked at MYMIC (More than a year)

    Pros

I'm hard-pressed to think of a single pro. I worked with some great people (all gone, of course, because they either had the sense to get out or they were let go when the company downsized in early 2013).

    Cons

Senior executives want to have these great products but are not willing to invest the time and money it takes to make that happen. They illustrated time and time again how little of value they thought R&D was to their bottom line, forgetting that R&D is what got them there in the first place. It's a culture that just refuses to evolve and change with the times. When I interviewed with them, the former President made a racist joke during my phone interview - that should have been a red flag to me!

    Advice to Management

I don't think I can even offer advice at this point - it's so bad there.

    Pros

Good work life balance. There are very few positive things I can speak upon. In high hopes they can turn this company around.

    Cons

Owners are running this company into the ground. Lack of vision with a "slap the mudd against the wall and hope it sticks mentality". They have all their eggs in two baskets with limited diversification. Sinking ship waiting to happen. Out ragious benefits cost.

    Advice to Management

Stop leveraging your employees to do three different jobs. Focus on your strengths even though they are limited. It is a must to get arid of the CEO and take the owners hands out of the pot. They are to clear factor running this company into the ground.

I worked at MYMIC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro was that the project I worked on was good. Unfortunately, the company ran it into the ground. Some employees are good people. Office facilities, parking and location is good.

    Cons

The owners/leadership are a complete joke. They treat their employees badly. They run off the good people only leaving behind the bad ones. They run a technology company, but have no understanding of what it actually takes to execute a engineering project. Therefore good projects with potential get run into the ground, then the employees get the blame. The workplace can be very stressful when there is interaction with the C-Suite. To make matters worse, some coworkers will throw you under the bus to get ahead and are unfortunately encouraged to do so by some managers. Do your career and health a favor and stay away.

    Advice to Management

Stop meddling in projects that you fundamentally have no understanding of. You must understand that in all cases for any organization, the trouble comes from the top down. If you acknowledge that, then maybe there is a shred of hope. But knowing this place, it will never happen.

    I worked at MYMIC full-time

    Pros

There are no pros working at MYMIC

    Cons

A 1 star rating is still more than they deserve! This company is a ticking time bomb, the leadership has no clue! I'm surprised MYMIC is still in business.

No communication within the company. Leadership is unclear and lacking brainpower.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone in your organization fairly, treat everyone as though they have a voice and they matter. You have lost numerous great people due to your ignorance of your industry, egotistical attitudes and backstabbing procedures. Replace the CEO and hire someone who truly cares about the overall growth of the business and the employees.

    Pros

Their personnel who provide direct, customer support are awesome and committed to providing the best solution.

    Cons

Inept leadership which routinely values short-wins rather than an overall steady increase in performance.

    Advice to Management

hire, and keep talented leadership; accept criticism and leverage lessons learned. steady decline in growth is an indication that all is not well.

I worked at MYMIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Best Back end support I have seen. They do great, within the contraints of the lame stovepipes that are set up for HR and Timekeeping /Billing. The front end of this company does amazing gyrations to get things that support the earners done. Nothing wrong there! The only reason I give three stars is the front end and the things they do daily to make a bad situation better.

    Cons

Top Executive leadership is indecisive and uncommunicative to subordinates. I worked here a couple of years and still had no idea where they wanted to go when they became a real company.
Key functions for the worker use the cheapest solution instead of the best value.Timekeeping is not easy, HR system is clunky.
Changing policies without consideration for their impact on the field workers that earn the companies majority of income, is a problem that should be worked on.

    Advice to Management

Until you admit the Top tier promotion mistakes you have made and clean out the deadwood, this company is going nowhere.
Changing the direction of a company and failing to base that change on a Business Case study or market research is very bad business practice. Failing to communicate that top leadership has totally decided not to go in that directionand to fail to inform your subordinates at the VP level and below that you have changed your mind, after telling them to move that way, is unsupportable in a business environment.
