Pros

Some of the managers are very supportive. And the people are generally friendly and helpful.

Cons

There are very few female developers. Females are hired into testing roles to keep female employment high. During my entire time there I only met two female developers. The company used to be focused on employee satisfaction but in the last year that has shifted and now they are focused on money and only care about metrics. They managed WFH poorly and the lack of employee appreciation was very obvious. They bragged every week about how much money they were making but then wouldn't pay their employees a living wage in the city. Instead they started hiring out of province because then they could pay people less. They claim to love hearing feedback, but then nothing is ever done about that feedback. The benefits are lackluster. They changed benefit providers to give better benefits but the benefit packages were essentially the same and my benefits in university were better. I loved the company for their purpose but management has turned the company into a money hungry machine and it lacks any employee appreciation.

Getting worse, not better

Pros

Products are making an impact Interesting and challenging problems Good team members make the job better

Cons

Every Single Team is short on staff, making record profits, but can't get budget approval because Thoma Bravo promised investors 4x return in 4 years. Layoffs and budget reductions everywhere. No one actually knows how everything has been built over time, so we're reinventing all the wheels, but only getting a small time-frame to do it. We're scrambling at break-neck paces and putting out worse results. Any protest is met with mandated 'request' to "keep feedback focused on positive solutions". A little salty about the sale and turn private where Adam and Jad made over 200 million dollars and still rolled 60% into the new company, framed it like a sacrifice, and didn't give the 300 people who got them there ANYTHING. We even skipped holiday events so that we saved budget. The C level cash-out value was roughly 1 million dollars per employee and we're on our 2nd year of wage increase freeze.

Pros

The paychecks don't bounce. A paycheck is a good thing right now.

Cons

Management just can't stop lying. They don't want to admit to employees that they are laying off people to save money/improve EBITDA, so they are putting top performers on PIPs and then firing them for "performance" soon after, with a poor-but-better-than-nothing severance agreement that forbids them from discussing the company in any way other than the dates they worked their and their title.
