I have been working at MaxLinear full-time

      Pros

      - Lots of potential for hands-on interactions with products to make a difference in the Company. - Open communication between managers/ staff - The CEO is hands-on and is very proud of his company; it shows. He seems to know everyone's name

      Cons

The Company does not have very many frills; they offer snacks/espresso machine each day. Celebrates with snacks for little events like 3-day weekends and Holiday party each year. I would rather be paid the money the Company would spend on extra silly stuff anyway, so it is not a big deal.

      Cons

The CTO is the worst people I have met in my life. I really hope I will never see him in my rest of life.

      Advice to Management

      Pros

Kishore is a visioner. He really knows where is the right direction to go. The company is a good place to new graduates and jr. careers, expecting lots instructions technical or not. Nice working environment, Reasonable salary and bonus.

      Cons

Management was always the issue. Too many micro management from different levels to cut in while you were set to finished another task. Less experienced team leads and low/mid managers on projects’ schedule planning and executing. (Un-reasonable schedule leads to the very pushing deadline. It’s not just happened on a single project. It’s on all projects.) Do not fully trust your manager’s opinion/suggestion, especially,...

      Advice to Management

Kishore, you are a great leader and it’s a honor to be working with you. I always remember “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes to find the right solutions”. Unfortunately, there are always other ppl who are waiting for these mistakes and won’t even admit that was their idea.

I worked at MaxLinear full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

The types of work is definitely not boring. You get quite a bit of mixed of SW and HW type of customer and internal product dev support work. So, if you are an ambitious engineer wishing to learn complete product cycles, then this the company for you.

      Cons

The company for some reason gets political. Sometimes you get a feeling that people don't trust one another. I think it's the cultural thing coming from the top. But as long as you stick to your work, which you should have plenty, you are OK.

        Pros

Flexible Schedule, A few nice managers

        Cons

There are far to many directors/managers in the Finance and Accounting Department. One in particular who is a directory is absolutely useless and cannot do a thing for herself. She relies on everyone else to do it for her. Her position is pointless and if her boss had any clue as to what her job was he would have gotten rid of her a long time ago.

        Advice to Management

Get rid of your abundance of useless Directors!
