I worked at MetroHealth System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture among MetroHealth employees is impressive oh, they always keep the mission of the hospital in mind

    Cons

Resources can be tight when looking at IT applications or even office supplies. There are also plenty of employees whose longevity seem to matter more than their skill.

    Advice to Management

Continue to incentivize employees to improve their knowledge and experience. But when 80% of the work is done by 20% of the workers, you're not going to keep the bright ones long.

  2. "Treated better as an employee elsewhere"

I worked at MetroHealth System full-time

    Pros

If MetroHealth is your first or only experience working in the healthcare profession, it may not seem so bad. The salary - while not great - is good by Cleveland standards. And, they have multiple locations where you may work.

    Cons

The facilities are understaffed. Employees are not respected. Supervisors don't know how to manage people or communicate effectively. Rather than address conflicts, they try to pass it off to another office that also has no idea what it is doing. Don't support employee growth due to lack of transparency with job bids and educational development.

    Pros

Wonderful colleagues, mission-centered, patient-focused, grassroots oriented, community engagement, senior management who are smart, creative problem solvers and care about their teams

    Cons

Keep focusing on mission and patients while simultaneously meeting the needs of staff, and serving as a neighborhood anchor that will transform the W. 25th Street neighborhood and beyond.

I have been working at MetroHealth System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you want to make a difference, MH is the place to be. We are the right size company, where you have room to grow, but also not too big where you cannot see your efforts pay off. I love being able to work on various projects and see how they come to life and feeling like I have a direct impact. And you are working with people that equally love MH and have been working here for 20+ years because they do not want to go anywhere else! There are so many days that I leave truly inspired to keep working on providing more programs to our community. I am very proud to say that I work here.

    Benefits are amazing as well!

    Cons

Sometimes being a public entity can slow the process of getting things done and it can be frustrating.

I have been working at MetroHealth System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

MHS is a very welcoming and warm environment. The patients feel validated and heard.; not treated as a "number". As an employee, I have many options for care outside of MHS; and I would not ever want to be a patient anywhere else.

    Cons

I cannot think of any worth worrying about...

    Advice to Management

Keep the momentum going.... Positive change and transformation are inevitable. Glad to be on the "train"!
