I have been working at Morrisons full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

10% discount plus card for family member.
    Pension plan
    Subsidised canteen

    Store performance based bonus.
    Long service awards.
Other money saving schemes with discounts at places like frankie and bennys and O2.

    Cons

Staffing levels are very tight and you are expected to be multiskilled accross many departments however time is not given to train you enough.
No intermediary level between general assistant and management.

    Advice to Management

Employ more fully flexible general assistants.
Treat yhe petrol stations as part of the company an not an afterthought.

I have been working at Morrisons (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Staff discount, other staff members and department managers are easily approachable and easy to get on with. There are some great benefits like 1 month paternity leave - double most places.

    Cons

Store and duty managers expect too much of sales assistants been here a number of years and the work load has increased greatly in that time as the number of staff members has dwindled due to the company trying to save money

    Advice to Management

Management should have more compassion for workers having to work extremely hard to complete designated tasks instead of adding more tasks and getting angry when all tasks are not completed.

I worked at Morrisons (More than a year)

    Pros

Some customers were friendly and made your day better. Good break times. A few staff competitions to get involved in every once in a while as well as charity events to get involved in.

    Cons

Not great work to life balance. I had a few bumps in the road when asking for time off due to studies/family illness or attempting to get shift swaps. Supervisors never cared much for their dept staff therefore them leading us to do the crappy jobs if they were too lazy to do it themselves. One of the managers was not a great leader in the ways of his leadership approach - some staff like to be left to do their job without a manager interfering every 10 minutes which annoyed some staff which made us feel like he/she was undermining our abilities. Customers are obviously going to be a con and pro, however my particular store never took action when a customer treated an employee disrespectfully. In general, overall dull, negative environment working with morrisons - at least my store, which in the end it was one of the reasons it lead me to leave the company.

    Advice to Management

Trust staff, and let them get on with their jobs without nagging them.

I worked at Morrisons part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours - can allow students to alter shifts if they have an upcoming exam, for instance.
    Friendly colleagues
    Lots of opportunity for overtime

    Cons

Hard to find any cons. Perhaps allow greater autonomy for non-management staff

    Advice to Management

Identify strong students that are currently working at the company part time whilst studying and offer a smooth transition onto a graduate scheme.
