I have been working at Neal Communities full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Aggressive growth strategies and a challenging and dynamic work environment. It is fun place to work as we strive to out maneuver and out work the competition. Which is also why it is so rewarding to work for this company.

    Cons

Not for the faint of heart or for those who just want to "go through the motions" and collect a paycheck. You will be challenged, but with that come the rewards.

I worked at Neal Communities full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - GREAT pay and benefits!
    - Flexibility when things arise in your personal life that will allow you to take care of them without issues/penalty.

    Cons

-Terrible culture. This is something that is heavily shopped to you during the interview process. Don’t be misled. There was another review in here that said “if you are not part of the click you are toast.” You can’t really put it any better than that. Management plays their favorites and if you aren’t in that circle others quickly pass you for promotions.
    - No upward growth. Let’s say you’re in the click and a position opens up. Be prepared to fight tooth and nail and to head out in a giant brown nosing campaign to slide into it. More than likely they will just string you along and then hire from outside the company.
    - terrible management that is not in tune with things that are ACTUALLY happening. Managers that are rude, brash, treat subordinates like garbage but still manage to hang around because they are “in the click”.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what people have been saying for years....especially the employee that have quit.....

    Advice to Management

Keep buying land. You have a great product!

I have been working at Neal Communities full-time

    Pros

The ability of actually doing the right thing for the customer, being empowered to do so
Being a privately-owned builder where the owner still works every single day, and is accessible as needed
On many projects and initiatives, being able to quickly adapt and execute
Having managers that care about the employee and the customer
    Building a quality product
Not having Wall St dictate our every move

    Cons

Being the David against the Goliath, from a resources and support perspective, when compared to the large builders

    Pros

Great company, excellent pay and benefits and team culture. Owner and executive management care about the customer, team and take pride in their homes and communities. Interesting to see other reviews targeting the interview process. It should be difficult to get a job at an outstanding organization and is one of the reasons for their low turnover and the number of people who have been there 10, 20, and even 35 years!!!

    Cons

None really, great company. There is always something to whine about but that is it.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what has made you successful the last 50 years.

I have been working at Neal Communities full-time

    Pros

Small company and you get to know everyone quickly

    Cons

Everything is outdated. None of the systems are integrated and the marketing is lacking. The vendors are paid by paper check and everything is slow due to major inefficiencies. Nobody wants to go beyond what they already know. So it’s hard to compete with other builders because we stick to the same old, same old.

    Advice to Management

Hire new, diverse people with new ideas and change the institutional thinking. Learn how to modernize and equip employees with tools and resources that actually work.

I worked at Neal Communities full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

financially secure good benefits for employees

    Cons

M icro managed. Management knows how to be untruthful most of the time. Felt really bad especially for the builders. if you don't fit into their click you are toast.
Neal takes pride in the fact that he has never fired an employee. What is not said is how they harass you and make your life miserable until you quit. if they spent more time running the company instead of harassing employees, they may have more positive comments to share.

    Advice to Management

Instead of harassing employees, breath life into them.
