Pros

It's a pay check to put food on the table. There are no other pros unless you live close to the job and have a 5 minute commute.

Cons

Insurance is almost 500 dollars a month for employee+ family and it doesn't cover anything. They have the lowest grade plan with BCBS. That was verbatim from a BCBS rep. Pay is 10 dollars an hour behind market standard on the lowest end. Hard work and loyalty are not rewarded. I went 2 years with not even a cost of living raise even with exceptional evaluation. You are penalized if you use the open door policy. Management hold raises to further line their own pocket. If you are management u get big bonuses when budgets are met. Promote people that have no clue about the job and over look others that have 10+ years experience and are top performers. There's a reason Oneok can't keep top tier people. They want people who haven't a clue and will work for the cheapest. I've seen it time and time again. DO NOT BELIEVE ANY 5 STAR REVIEWS. I worked for them for 7 years and have seen the inside working first hand. Management is horrible. The 5 star and 4 star reviews were not put up there until I brought this site to their attention when I show them the 2 star rating they had from their employees. Shortly after, those reviews magically poped up. They are not anything like any other oil and gas company. Oneok does not appreciate their employees period. The one person is soo right about market based pay. IT'S A SCAM. Somehow the market never changes and your always right where you should be according to Oneok.

Pros

Benefits Relatively casual dress code Mostly good managers Down to earth executive team - they’re mostly good ole boys so don’t make them angry Good pay for the jobs You won’t get fired, even if you’re absolutely horrible at your job

Cons

Too many “groups” Not enough people WORKING No accountability for anyone under VP’s Too many managers/directors (there are several who have NO ONE reporting to them) too much time spent on extras (volunteering, meetings for resource groups, random outside events) You won’t get promoted unless you kiss butt and/or are related to an executive . (Even if you go above and beyond for your job) No one gets fired for anything, unless you break the law and people find out (again- if you know, or are related to, someone in management then no need to worry because you won’t get fired at all.)

Employee Benefits Good - Senior Execs Lacking

Pros

For the Most part, ONEOK has been a solid place to work. Pro employee. Good work/life balance. Good benefits. Generally good people to work around. These things still remain. You can move your way up and seek leadership opportunities. Success is about buying into the existing leaderships ideas and ways of leading. If you want to go up, buy into existing leaders ways of doing things, and tread lightly on challenging.

Cons

Typical corporate politics you will deal with at most large companies. Pay is much lower than competitors, however the company never has layoffs. ONEOK has fallen in line with the other Fortune 500 companies. Satisfying the largest shareholders who are yelling about equity and improving diversity. At times, promotions occur that are head scratchers, and it’s clear to all that it’s about a diversity goal. Not sure if it’s good or bad for the business. Time will tell. Company wide employee surveys yearly, little comes from them. With the new Magellan merger, it’s definitely an odd time. For years, we went out of our way to purposefully stay away from crude and refined products because of the lack of stability in those markets.
