I have been working at PCL Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PCL fosters collaborative and cohesive teams in the office and on site that become friends and can feel like family.
Management strongly encourages growth opportunities and creates pathways for career development.
Loyal and long term employees at all levels are rewarded with the company's profit sharing program that can greatly increase compensation.
Executive Management is transparent about direction, goals, and finances.
Employees work on exciting projects across the US and Canada.

    Cons

Occasionally work/life balance is not always the best when there are deadlines or milestones to achieve but I do not know of any strong construction companies where this does not occur.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hold and convey the idea that employees are the most valuable asset.

I have been working at PCL Construction full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pcl treats its employees well. Scheduling time off for visits with family is easy. Per deim for 7 days as long as you work your entire scheduled work week.

    Cons

Pcl employs a wide spectrum of employees and a lot of them have little pride in their work. Many problems associated with high turn over rate.

I have been working at PCL Construction full-time

    Pros

Great health insurance - pretty much unmatched & doesn't cost a lot out of pocket. Decent salary & very fair bonuses - I have consistently received a raise since I started, which I can't necessarily say that about other companies. Haven't experienced any micromanagement, you basically get to work in a manner that's best for you as long as you get your task completed.

    Cons

A lot of the other "perks" that the company touts either aren't for every location or don't actually exist except for when they're trying to get on a best places to work list. They claim flexible schedules, telecommuting options, and compressed work weeks, but when you ask to take advantage of any one of those things, you aren't allowed. Work/life balance is preached, but not practiced.

    Advice to Management

Make policies consistent throughout the company. Don't extend perks just to people in Denver or Edmonton. If they can have flex schedules, telecommuting and compressed work weeks, all the offices should have that. Roll out company-wide policies like this.
