I have been working at PCL Construction full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

100% Employee owned company. This means that every decision is made with you (the owner) in mind!

    Cons

Construction in general is hard. Sometimes there is so much work, it's hard to keep up with; other times, there's not enough work to keep all employees.

I have been working at PCL Construction full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At the start of my career I worked as a subcontractor and was able to experience working for all the major General Contractors. It did not take me long to realize that PCL was the best in the business. The employee ownership of the company tied into my goal of working for myself with added benefit of working for one of the largest General Contractors in North America. PCL has a diverse employee group along with access to the most challenging projects to build a career on.

    Cons

Recently just celebrated my 11th year of working for PCL. My only regret was not starting here sooner.

    Pros

We have great people on the project sites & in our group. Great family atmosphere.

    Cons

Our group is run by a dictator, and it is draining on our entire group.

    Advice to Management

Value your people, and start understanding that just because you have been in the position for 20+ years, it does not make you a good manager.

I have been working at PCL Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People you work with, company values, employee ownership, diversity of work performed.

    Cons

Hours can be long, some systems/programs are outdated.

    Advice to Management

There has been a push to make salaries more competitive with the industry. This is great and needs to continue. The ESOP program is an amazing benefit, but people cannot wait years for it to start kicking-in/paying-out. ESOP needs to be a bonus on top of competitive salaries so that the company can continue to attract the best of the best in the construction industry.
