    Cons

    Long hours. Open on Thanksgiving pushing Black Friday to the previous Wednesday.

    Manager gives you days off that you need.

    Cons

    Horrible pay for management. Management has too much to get done in short time with no help.

    Advice to Management

    Management can't control the issues. The problem is with corporate.

    Easy learning curve, slow pace, friendly management, satisfying feeling after completing task such as organizing racks or displays (folding and organizing pants by size, straightening shoes)

    Cons

    Management not highly experienced or educated, heavy push to sell magazines and credit cards to the customers to meet weekly minimums

    Advice to Management

    Hire managers with more experience and/or education. Don't force the employees to push the magazines and credit cards; rather make it a friendly competition for prizesp

    It's a job. Some opportunities to advance.

    Cons

    Expensive health insurance which the pay does not make up for. Salaries are not competitive. Always a skeleton crew, will never hire enough help. Harassed to make quotas on selling magazines and credit cards daily. Frequent turnover of staff.

    Advice to Management

    Pay people a living wage and you may see some people stick around. Hire more experienced store managers.

    Pros

    Lots of interaction with people. Fast-paced. Employee discount. In store management is awesome!

    Cons

    Strict rules about giving elderly customers coupons; when you can tell younger customers to get them on their phones. Too much emphasis on soliciting credit accounts.

    Advice to Management

    Do not put such a heavy emphasis on credit accounts and threaten to release employees over them. There are more important things like friendliness and work ethic. Discourage territory managers from micro-managing store managers. My store manager was excellent; my district manager chewed me out in front of other team members for not selling a credit card. I was an 18 year-old hungry college kid.

    Very nice manager and co-workers, a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

    Need Better pay raises. I have been there 6 months and received a .07 cents pay raise. I feel I am a good employee and this is an insult for a raise. Even since they cut our hours way down...corporate greed

    Pros

    My store manager was the best she was always fair and handled problems effectively. Hours were good. The training was very through.

    Cons

    The pay is low for the amount of work you do. Corporate sales often have glitches. The higher ups in the company have different criteria which sometimes leads to conflict during store visits. Do not allow overtime but expect additional duties to be performed the same day.

    Advice to Management

    Creating direct policies and increasing pay to match the amount of work completed.

    Pros

    I work with a good group of women. They are very strong and motivated individuals. I am very satisfied with the workforce I have.

    Cons

    Low starting salaries and wages. I feel that starting an associate out a minimum wage in retail is ridiculous. The work load and pay don't add up. And I feel that management should make alot more, whether it's and hourly manager, but especially a salaried manager since we can't get overtime.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees, within your stores (from salaried management to associates) a fair competitive wage or salary.

    It's a good learning experience.

    Cons

    Understaffed and store system outdated , no proper training of employees.

    Advice to Management

    Training of employees in proper prceedures,oversight to whom is being hired and to ensure no Harrasment or retaliation of management is taking place. Be aware of whom is doing schedules and esure they are equally fair.stop threatening employees of job loss for lack of sales in magazines which anoy most customers. Make sure enough employees are scheduled to run store so customers do not leave agitated because of lack of help.
