I have been working at Propeller full-time for more than 3 years

    Cons

While not a con for me, it may be for some. Change is constant. Be able to adapt. Expect to change clients and projects - potentially every six months - while also embracing fast-pace growth and change within Propeller.

    Advice to Management

    Keep going! You're amazing.

I have been working at Propeller full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Propeller is an incredible company to work at, staffed with fantastic people. Propellerites are some of the nicest people I've ever interacted with, and it seemed easy and natural to quickly become friends with my coworkers. Beyond that, everyone is smart, driven, and top of their game, and it makes me want to be better at my job in a very positive way. Work-life balance is built into the firm, and work is actually fun!...

    Cons

People are social- if you are someone who like to come to work and go home and not be involved with the community of work, it may not be the place for you.

I have been working at Propeller full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Company invests tremendously in its employees (from hiring to career development, including leadership opportunities) - Intelligent, genuine, supportive and diverse colleagues to work alongside - Competitive compensation - Best company culture I have experienced - a pleasure to come to work every day

    Cons

    - Consultants are usually located on client site day-to-day and may not have as much exposure to fellow consultants, apart from monthly team meetings or social events. This is a minor note, and is reflective of the very high utilization rate of Propeller. You will not be on the bench for long.

    Advice to Management

Continue investing in its people and culture as we scale and grow.

I have been working at Propeller full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Propeller is very much like a "choose your own adventure" game. There's plenty of opportunity to stretch into new types of work and industries, participate in internal initiatives, and help grow the business in immediate and tangible ways. What I love most about Propeller though are the people. Propeller consultants come from a variety of professional backgrounds, but they all share a similar commitment to doing good...

    Cons

These aren't really cons exactly - more caveats. In many ways, Propeller is building the plane as we fly it. We have a pretty lean administrative infrastructure and are working to build out many of the supports you would find at larger firms. However, if you're comfortable with that and go in with eyes wide open, this is actually an opportunity to help build those things - which could be a pro for the right person....

    Advice to Management

Continue being transparent about the firm's strategy and performance, investing in internal tools and processes to support our growth, and providing opportunities for consultants to participate in the firm's expansion (both in capabilities and geographies).

I worked at Propeller full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the most sincere people I've worked with in my professional career. Propeller is really intentional about the employee experience. Growing firm with lots of opportunity to "plug-in"

    Cons

Opportunity for consistent strategy focused work

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in the employee experience and diversifying the client portfolio - excited to see what's next for Propeller

I have been working at Propeller full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is a great firm to work for. They have an awesome culture with really smart people and some interesting projects. The consultants you work with are very smart, driven but don't have the arrogance of what you see at some of the other top tier firms. Work life balance is something that is actually possible at this firm. But if you like working longer hours, the bonus structure affords you more pay. They are...

If possible, could the 401k be upgraded. What we have is decent but could be better.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and transparency. I particularly love and appreciate how supportive you are of helping consultants with their career goals.

I worked at Propeller for more than 3 years

    Pros

Unlimited PTO where you’re treated like an adult who can manage his/her own schedule is pretty great! Being able to choose to either take a bigger bonus or get more time off is freeing, too. The pay is fair (but do advocate for yourself, as with any other company...the first offer is never where you should land). Great colleagues! Super fun to work at a small company where you—and what you do—matters. Really invested...

    Cons

Some projects are just boring. 401(k) matching is pretty average or maybe below average. And the company has never hit the target for performance so nobody has ever gotten a full bonus, so that stinks. And once you get to a certain level, there’s not much farther you can go.

I have been working at Propeller full-time for less than a year

    Pros

What I love about this company is the level of attention going into core values. Commit to people, do good work, hire amazing people, be humble but smart enough to have an ego. Embrace grit. Bring energy and create balance. All colleagues including leadership radiate these values. The managing partners truly care about the wellness of the people working for the firm. This is what makes Propeller for me stand out from...

Being a growing firm, a high level of initiative is expected from everyone. But for the type of person that enjoys working at Propeller, this is an opportunity and actually a pro rather than a con.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Propeller full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Projects are local (unless you specifically request to travel to San Francisco / Portland). Surrounded by supportive, intelligent colleagues that will challenge you. Respectful balance of personal and professional lives. "Utilization target" model = you manage your own time and relationship with the client. It means you don't "accrue" vacation. You take PTO as needed as long as you hit your annual utilization...

    Cons

Time spent training isn't considered "utilization".
