I worked at Protolabs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The executive leadership including the CEO and VP of sales were great. They have a very positive forward thinking outlook. They made great investments in the latest technology, sales tools, and marketing resources. They've also done a great job being responsive to customer demands and expanding there internal capabilities.

    Cons

With growth and expansion naturally comes growing pains. Increased expectations and demands. Some of the sales managers lack experience and credentials to effectively coach the reps on how to best overcome these challenges and take advantage of these opportunities. A few sales managers in particular seemed very in over their heads and didn't know how to deal with the inevitable pressure that comes with increased expectations...

    Advice to Management

My first piece of advice to upper management is to make sure that expectations to your sales managers for what is expected of them and the reps is clear. Particularly make sure that your sales managers have a strong understanding of the challenges that come along with a growth and being part of a larger organization and coach them on how to best prioritize and focus on what is truly important. Make sure that your sales...

    Pros

Why do I love my job? I get to lead a diverse technical team to deliver high quality infrastructure as code solutions that exceed application and business team expectations. I am given the opportunity to design, architect and deliver infrastructure solutions that support high availability goals and disaster recovery requirements while also enabling self-service infrastructure for application development teams. I am...

    Cons

To some, working at headquarters in Maple Plain, MN may seem like too long of a drive. I'll admit that my drive into the office is about 40 minutes one way. This is mitigated by a great work-from-home program and management that is flexible enough to work its employees to find a solution that works best for both parties.

    Advice to Management

Continue to encourage and foster your employees educational and professional goals. Continue to push us to deliver new and innovative solutions. Continue investing in DevOps practices and cultural norms.

I worked at Protolabs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Always work to be done

    Cons

12 hour days with management up your back the whole day. You are being micromanaged. If you get hurt on the job expect to be fired especially as a temp. If you are a temp employee you won't be hired on after your contract. They just let you go to keep their profits up. No room to grow there even though they say there is. You get put in one spot and you stay there.

    Advice to Management

Honestly don't know what would help the mess there.

I have been working at Protolabs full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can use them as a temp job while looking for something worth while.

    Cons

Very poorly managed with a spoiled rotten culture. Mostly minorities that are mostly racist. Blasting (loud) gangster rap for 40hrs a week. There are also some benefits that they claim to give all employees when hired but just plain do not. My holiday bonus was a $25 gift certificate for market basket. I could go on but I'm sure you get the point. If you have something to offer a good company, don't waste your time. I...
