Pros

Was a nice work environment.

Cons

They said they work like they are a family, but when I had an unforseen surgery come up, I was not given the time off and respect that I felt was necessary (doctors orders were blatantly ignored) for my recovery.

Pros

Because of the high turnover, I progressed up the ladder quickly. After a few months I was making the schedule and hiring new assistants. Most of the realtors were nice.

Cons

Each office is independently owned by a broker. There’s little support from corporate. They don’t keep any kind of tabs on the brokers who are running their offices. I worked at the Houghton/Higgins Lake MI offices and the broker there was homophobic, racist, sexist, and didn’t care who knew it, until a client walked in. We were berated and walked on eggshells whenever he was in the office. He would also ask us girls to help him play jokes on former employees and girlfriends. It was insane. I also was deemed an “independent contractor” and was responsible to pay my own income taxes.

Pros

Outstanding training. Great support staff. This company can take someone who is self motivated and open to training and turn them into a knowledgeable sales professional. Many other real estate brokers show you where you sit and wish you well. Real Estate One offers a combination of goal oriented training, agent support and still affords the agents the ability to work at a self employed level.

Cons

Real estate agents are self employed and 1099'd. If you are looking for a compensation plan that includes company paid health insurance, vacation or sick days this is not the industry for you. This is not directed at Real Estate One this is industry wide. If you work hard you will earn more than enough to compensate and plan for your own needs... if you don't maybe a nice 9-5.
