I have been working at SCIEX full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities to stretch and grow for a hungry go-getter. Strong focus on process and standard problem solving techniques. For the most part, a company of dynamic A players.

    Cons

Underperforming managers are often kept in the mix or even promoted, leaving others miffed and dejected. Development opportunities are limited by the quality of direct management and can tank overnight when reporting structure changes.

    Advice to Management

Increase your focus on developing and promoting from within.

I have been working at SCIEX full-time

    Pros

Benefits, colleagues, and perks (bonuses, commission, etc.)

    Cons

Lack of communication, lack of guiding direction, and poor management

    Advice to Management

Stop settling for flying under the radar and actually take a stance to make changes for the better. Processes need to be streamlined and perfected to make employees feel as if their own technology isn't working against them.

See a problem, access the situation, create a strategy to fix it and then execute.

    Pros

Processes and policies will keep you focused, you clearly know the priorities. Most people are friendly to each other and want to help/listen and collaborate.

    Cons

Management is very disconnected. Too much work piles up and you get no where fast. Unreliable people with deadlines that are not met. Due to a very lean environment, it's impossible for teams to deliver. For a Danaher op-co, many deadlines and major milestones are missed. Too many short term deliverables; cannot focus on longer term projects. Or, too focused on longer term projects and no one is focused on the current project at hand. Seen it both ways. Leaders in positions that don't know much about the business/industry which they are running. Many areas of improvement needed!

    Advice to Management

Create clear roles and responsibilities for employees. Set realistic deadlines and expectations. Too many fake deadlines are in place. Teams stop believing they can be met.

    I worked at SCIEX full-time

    Pros

Intelligent, passionate team of employees, if only management would support their needs and ideas.

    Cons

A "lean" run company, equating to far too much responsibility with never enough time to do your job well. It seems most (including myself) were simply getting by, not able to work at their best as there is far too much work with far few people.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and don't simply act top down. Get some fresh blood with new ideas in management.

    Cons

Sometimes setup very tight schedule for you. But I would say, its more about your managers not company.

I worked at SCIEX full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good growth, higher management is focused on growth. Employees very friendly, well educated and experienced people. One of the respected companies in its field.

    Cons

Growth is only thing this company is focused on, at the cost of good employees, frequent layoffs and high stress environment

    Advice to Management

Be fair to employees, few games and events right after layoffs is not a good way to motivate employees

I worked at SCIEX (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great mass specs. Great field team. Passionate scientists in research

    Cons

Lack of innovation, lean management, simply poor leadership and management

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders who really understand what SCIEX is meant to a customer not people who thrive on politics. Inefficient leaders who has no clue and promote themselves will destroy SCIEX legacy and tarnish the brand. You should wake up and clean the house before your good employees fly away and see end of SCIEX.

I have been working at SCIEX (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been working for the company for several years. My positive experience is based mainly on having a very good manager. In recent years leadership has changed for the better. There is recognition that not just short-term investments are necessary but longer-term as well in order to stay competitive. At the same time I do see a more sincere effort to understand employees level of engagement and efforts to improve.

    Cons

As with many life science companies that have gone through mergers and acqusitions there are several process and infrastructure issues that make daily job tasks manual and very inefficient. Communication is also poor across product groups and marketing. Certain parts of the business are not currently organized to encourage communication.

    Advice to Management

Ensure alignment of metrics across departments and require better communication.
