I have been working at Sevatec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sevatec is a government contracting firm, with the standard culture challenges which arise from a largely-distributed workforce, but they do a great job keeping employees engaged and feeling connected to the company. Contract work can be demanding, but hard work is frequently recognized and celebrated. Other reviews also mention Sevatec's culture of service, which I've found to be true and really appreciate knowing the firm is doing something really wonderful in our community. Look up the Sevatruck!

    Cons

Contractual requirements from the government (around telework policies, hours, etc.) can be challenging, and in most cases Sevatec can't do much to change these. This is standard in the industry.

Only fifteen total PTO days (vacation and sick leave combined).

    Advice to Management

Invest in hiring the best people. Enticing top technical talent into an industry that requires maintaining a security clearance is difficult, so focus on the long game and look for people who are interested in doing interesting work with great teams. Never resort to just filling a seat on a contract with a warm body.

Good company culture, communication is open and well received.

    Cons

It is difficult to understand how there can be so many non-US born employees working in sensitive information areas.

    Pros

” Hmm , surely there must be something I can talk about?

Nope…ok I will look around the room in a hope something inspires me to give me a pros-topic to talk about – Umm Nope still nothing.

    Cons

I’m sure a lot of us have been in a situation similar to this where literally in conversation with another we just have a lot to say and ...only come out of your mouth is "SUCK"

    Advice to Management

Hell I’m just thinking, nobody would be interested?

    Pros

No Pros come to mind with this company.

    Cons

The HR in this company is lacking knowledge and professionalism. They interview candidates and absolutely waste their time by not following up. I've worked at several different IT firms, my experience with Sevatec was surely not accommodating

    Advice to Management

    Rebuild HR structure

I have been working at Sevatec full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Sevatec is growing IT firm that values its employees and promotes continued education. It main focus is on providing the best service to its customers.

    Cons

Most jobs have a narrow scope which limits job opportunities. Pay increase is very slow. So ask for more money up front.

    Advice to Management

Learn to spread the knowledge so all those interested can prosper. They talk a great game but the results are limited.

    Pros

My coworkers are nice and manager is nice. Above their pay grade, the people are less personable. The former CEO Sonny is so much more personable and gives a positive and warm energy. If only the current management and executives can pick up some of the energy that has worked so well for Sonny.

    Cons

Education reimbursement isn't available for academic classes and universities. Only 1-5 days long classes may be selectively available for employees.

    Advice to Management

The former CEO Sonny is so much more personable and gives a positive and warm energy. If only the current management and executives can pick up some of the energy that has worked so well for Sonny. At current, the change in management is creating a paradigm and energy shift that may affect employee retention in the future.

I have been working at Sevatec full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They offer insurance for your pets.
Health Insurance isn't any worse than anywhere else.
You get a nice golf shirt every year.
Sometimes they'll buy you pizza for contract awards.

    Cons

Asking for raises is frowned upon, even after you've won major performance awards from the government customer. Management stresses that they want employees with "passion" - which translates to people willing to work for a salary 25-35% less than the national average.
Employee training is non-existent. Though they tout their training opportunities to the government customer repeatedly. They point employees to a lackluster Skillsoft page and that's the last you'll hear.
Ironically, you'll get a bonus if you post a positive review on Glassdoor, so take all of the positive reviews you see here with a grain, maybe a shaker-full, of salt.

    Advice to Management

Review your pay-scales and don't trust your program managers at customer sites.
