I have been working at Smartling full-time

    Pros

    - The office is great with lots of cool meeting rooms
    - Unlimited healthy snacks
    - Very flexible time off for travel etc

I read all of the past reviews and I think that people were just bitter because they didn't last here or were not good at their jobs.
I've been here for many years and I am very happy here.

    Cons

Some of the management can be mean but millennials feel so entitled and don't want to work hard. This company tries to give these young people opportunity for growth and all they do is complain.

I worked at Smartling full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People, Product and Mission. The company rewards effort and results, and if you're open minded, you will learn a lot. You are surrounded by a lot of smart people, who are also great people to grab a beer with after hours.

    Cons

There are no deal breakers. From an annoyance standpoint the elevators sometimes take a long time. Information flow can be difficult unless you make an effort to go after the info you need.

    Advice to Management

Keep rewarding your A players. Invest more in company events and concentrate on culture.

Celebrates sales more than the rest

    Advice to Management

    Celebrate every department's contributions.

I have been working at Smartling full-time

    Pros

    - Platform is technologically advanced, far ahead of competitors
    - Many bright, intelligent, and hard working people
    - Office space is awesome
    - Snacks are good with options include organic stuff
    - Quite an impressive client list

    Cons

    - Constant changes to the platform with little to no advance notice causes pain for clients almost weekly
    - The platform, as advanced as it is, still needs much improvement
    - They say 'unlimited vacation and flexible PTO' but that's nowhere close to reality
    - There is a lack of unity across teams, especially when they are in different offices
    - Inefficiently run meetings can take up half your day

    Advice to Management

Continue focusing on profitability and seeking ways to cut costs. Boost employee morale.

I have been working at Smartling full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Awesomely talented people
    Fast and Innovative Technology
Great customer logo's (American Airlines, Pinterest, Burberry, etc.)

    Cons

Too many free snacks/drinks, you might gain some weight.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, grind hard, keep your eye on the prize.

I have been working at Smartling full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you want to work for the best, Smartling is the Mercedes-Benz of TMS solutions.

    Now the good stuff...
    - Great benefits (healthcare), very flexible PTO, and top-tiered salary/comp (compared to NYC market rates)
    - Stocked kitchen with snacks, drinks, coffee (5+ options), and beer on tap
    - A cool open-office space with themed rooms
    - Awesome company outings (Baseball games, picknicks, escape the room, holiday party, and more)
    - Bagel Mondays... with lox!
    - Transparent roadmap from the executives
    - Accessible and approachable leaders
    - Swag

The people who work here are experts in their individual fields. I find that there's a really good balance with the work hard/play hard mentality.

Smartling is a startup in spirit, but an enterprise company in talent, product, experience, and professionalism. Working here has been the best this for my career thus far. I would recommend working here for anyone looking to be a part of the next big thing.

    Cons

There is a lot to get done, as such there's a need to work late sometimes or work after hours from home.

The open office space can make it difficult to concentrate if you're not used to working in an open environment.

If you're looking for a comfortable job where you can coast, this will not be the place for you. Smartlings are go-getters.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on employee development. The people want to grow, learn and be better... help foster more of that.

I worked at Smartling full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The product is SOLID. Great engineering team and on paper, this thing should fly.

    Cons

It's driven by people who don't know what they're doing. They are very smart, driven people who don't care about the people who work for them because they think the product sells itself. It doesn't. In fact, the biggest challenge is status quo or getting companies outside of the technology to make the plunge. There was a HIGH amount of turnover from the VP level (VP of Marketing and Sales had short life spans at Smartling) when I was there and it continues to be the case.

    Advice to Management

Bring a professional in who's managed a pre-IPO company before. Let Jack go talk at trade shows and help in the future direction of the product.

I have been working at Smartling full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They pay well and have good benefits. Some would say they have good snacks, but the snacks are not that appetizing.

    Cons

Just look at the person who wrote the review "Moving forward in a difficult market." He doesn't care about his coworkers and it shows. If you act in your own self interest at this company you'll be fine. Trust anyone else to have your back, you're in trouble. There is no culture and no team work. Many self-promoters.

    Advice to Management

Hold on to the sales people who are still here. We lose them, we're done.

    Pros

Snacks. All the soda you can drink and sometimes lunch. And there's a cool secret room to go in, too.

CEO is very busy but if/when you can get his time he's a smart man to learn from and it's clear he wants to enable company growth. The product itself is fantastic, so it's easy to believe in what you do. The company name is also well recognized, which says something as translation is a VERY fragmented market.

    Cons

Negative attitudes among some colleagues who can be a little entitled. Take the reviewer who said she cried in the bathroom as an example. That's her issue with needing to put on her big girl panties and get to work instead of anything the company did wrong. For those who are willing to work hard though, this is a great place to be.

    Advice to Management

Hang in there. You're building a company in a difficult market, so just stick with it.
