Standard interview process. Initial call with recruiter, then met with hiring manager to go over a mock-email assignment. Then met with CFO for more of a culture fit type of call. Process lasted about 3 weeks. Sadly did not get an offer. Seems like a great company.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Smartling in Sep 2023
I was referred for the job by a senior staff member, I was sent a few questions to fill out and a few days later I had a video interview with a recruiter. It went very well, I had all of the qualifications and many years experience in the sector and the recruiter explained the next steps in the interview process as if I would be moving on through them and said she would get in touch in a few days. The following week I received a vague and impersonal rejection with no information or feedback.

Straightforward process: Recruiter call, followed by interview with the manager. Both calls were conversational and informative. Seems like a very welcoming environment. The recruiter followed up to let me know that they decided not to move forward. Not the outcome I hoped for but both calls were friendly and it was a fast process overall.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling in Dec 2022
Applied for the position online and was contacted for a preliminary interview the next day. Scheduled the interview for the next week and received a generic rejection email with no feedback a few days after.

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Cork
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling (Cork) in Aug 2022
Very long and ended unprofessionally. Had 4 interviews through period of 2 weeks. I got to the last round (fifth interview) which was supposed to be presentation of the exercise they send me. On the day of that presentation I got an email explaining that position was filled and that they are canceling scheduled interview. This happened 2 hours before the interview was supposed to happen. Very long process that ended in disappointment and in my opinion very unprofessional ending.

Friendly and informative. I was impressed with the professionalism and transparency from the HR team. I felt the right questions were asked of me and I was able to learn a great deal about how Smartling works. I had two interviews each for 30 minutes with two people on the hiring team.

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling (New York, NY) in Feb 2022
First a recruiter conversation Video interview with the hiring manager Take home assignment (scripting) Panel interview with various team members (two hours long). Was a pretty fast process, nothing too complicated. Either posting was a come on or the company lied to me. Very unprofessional.

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling (New York, NY) in Jul 2021
The first interview was a telephone call with a high level team member, and it lasted roughly 15-20 minutes. She was extremely friendly and joked a bit as well. At the end of the first interview, she was very clear about the next steps and made me feel very good about the overall process. The day after, I received a second email stating that I was moving forward in the process. I was extremely excited to be moving forward as I have been actively wanting to join the company for over 14 months. The second interviews (2-30 min interviews with two more senior individuals) went extremely well, and they made you feel like you were already part of the team and got you excited about the position/ company.... However, they did not adequately assess my skillset and asked questions, which seemed more higher level rather than "Junior/ entry-level." Afterwards, I sent my follow-ups and truly took the time to prepare those + sent them in a timely manner. However, they failed to follow-up (again) and simply received a "rejection" email on the tenth day after the second interviews with absolutely zero information, a basic automated email. I did follow-up again with NO response for feedback and to ask for reasoning, so I can best prepare in the future, should a position of interest become available. The overall process was negative with a very superficial approach throughout the entire process. I came to these interviews with roughly 10yr of customer facing work experience, both from the United States and abroad; speak enough of 7 languages; have translation project coordination experience with a very customer friendly approach and determination. I found the entire process to be disappointing as I did also interview for a Junior Translation Project Manager position in May/ June 2020, and the team that I spoke with (at the time as the main person is now gone) gave me extremely thorough feedback, and we kept in touch for months to inquire about new positions, etc. The hiring manager at that time encouraged me to remain in touch, and I remained actively interested for 14 months. When I saw a position become available (Junior Customer Success Manager), which would allow me to have more of a client facing career, I became very excited. My suggestion for the company is... if you are hiring for a Junior position, what do you expect the person to have as my candidature came with much experience, would have probably been more suitable for a higher position actually? Additionally, I'd be a tad more responsive to applicants. If this is how the company responds to potential candidates, how do they respond to the customer? I will not apply again.
- They asked me about how I've handled difficult situations with clients (in translation), just the general questions mainly.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling (New York, NY) in Jun 2021
Informal and conversational, several contacts over several weeks. Managed through a system called Greenhouse. Professionally handled, very prompt. Clear that they had a very specific idea of the traits they were looking for.
- Interviews were generally unstructured and probing. Presented as peer to peer conversations.

Anonymous Employee in Dublin, Dublin
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Smartling (Dublin, Dublin) in Mar 2021
Began with a screening interview and ended with a call with the CEO. Very professional throughout and all staff had a genuine interest in my experience, qualifications and who I was as a person.
- Q: What was my previous sales experience?
- Q: What were my views on culture within an organisation?
- Q: What are my current weaknesses within my current firm?
