I worked at Softtek full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, reasonable salary, good amount of PTO, not micromanaged.

    Cons

Beware that "we are going to find you another project" actually is the same as "you are being let go". Reviewed a number of us as we trained our replacements with this bait line then terminated our employment.

    Advice to Management

When your employees innovate to create an effective solution for one client, market the concept to other clients.

I worked at Softtek full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A very great learning experience out of college.
Great environment. You work among friends.
Chance to work in the US for a few years, build international credentials and get familiar with other work cultures.

Learn for a few years, then move on! All other companies will pay fairly and more after you have grown in experience.

Softtek is a company that offers very cheap "near-shore" labor, but also cheap onsite labor by paying employees in the US according to the Mexican market, which translates into very low compensation compared to the IT industry.

    Cons

***Sometimes they don't pay on time!!!

Very low salary (just see the salaries they offer here in Glassdoor, a McDonald's manager makes more than a software project delivery manager in Softtek).

No performance bonus. Plus, you can get excellent reviews, yet don't get an increase in two or even three years.

Nominal benefits: No 401k match, 12 PTO days for the first 5 years, health insurance with high copay and not covering family.

Employee has to pay himself for work visa and for visas for his family.

Nominal relocation stipend that is virtually useless.

    No vision care.

    Discounted dental insurance only.

    Advice to Management

Stop offering cheap labor at the expense of your employees. The US market is not the Mexican market. Stop bringing people to the US paying them as if they still had Mexican expenses.

I have been working at Softtek full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, they are like family, decent opportunities even tough they tend to be slow to come, especially if you are assigned at the customer's facilities.

    Cons

The salary is ridiculously low compared with the market value of the employee, no 401k match, high cost of medical benefits (where the employee has to pay to get this family in, plus the co-pays) no bonuses or raises for LONG time.

    Advice to Management

I understand the bottom line is what is important but you are really underpaying your employees.
Your most valued asset is your workforce, If you really want to take care of the company, take care of the employees and offer benefits that make them stay, not get out running at the first opportunity.

    Pros

Very nice environment all around, good installations and benefits. Good balance between work and family hours.

    Cons

Career path could be more open for people to decide and not have it decide by management base on needs.
