Pros

Pay was good, maybe a little better than average, many great people to work with. A beautiful new office in a great location.

Cons

The claims handling process, as well as every other part of the job was severely micromanaged making easy, simple parts of the job into needlessly time consuming tasks. Employee input is met with arrogant, condescending responses that reflect the attitude of distrust and disdain that the upper management has for the employees. The micromanagement, unreliable claims handling software and very inefficient work flows made even the simplest of claims into long drawn out situations and became so bad that it became impossible to complete my job and provide a level of customer service that I wanted to be associated with.

Pros

There is no good reason why anyone would want to work here.

Cons

Work hard all day with no appreciation or praise, the harder you work, the more is piled on.

At UPC, we are committed to making sure that every employee feels valued, satisfied, and that they are contributing to something much larger than themselves; all while providing an acceptable work/life balance. Our core values and culture are very important to us. We hope that employees feel comfortable enough to go to their managers or HR if they have concerns.

Pros

Free food is always appreciated. While misery loves company, you will inevitably meet someone enjoyable.

Cons

The third floor boys club of managers that were hired based on experience instead of leadership abilities. There is no avenue of communication and an impeccable disconnect between management and adjusters. There is next to no support for the unrealistic workload. The stress level, at standard times, is indescribable. UPC continues to recruit young professionals directly from four year schools with misleading advice that there are opportunities to move up internally. Most reviews here are in fact written by employees by the request of marketing directors.

Hello there, Your review somehow slipped by our reviewers. Terribly sorry about that! I hope that you have found some peace at work and that things are going better for you. If not, I ask that you reach out to your managers and HR with your concerns. We understand that claims life is not for everyone, and that's ok. Please let us know if we can do anything to help. On a side note - you should know that many people from the claims department have gone on to higher positions, and/or other departments. It is possible with a great attitude and an even better work ethic. You got this!
