I have been working at VF full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, staff is very accommodating during training, many positions available for once your seasonal position is done, if this is what you were hired for. A good overall experience and the job is not very complicated.

    Cons

Not a very big con, but as a college student I was not able to get a permanent position because they are not very flexible with scheduling outside of the seasonal positions, as their hours are set shifts and they were not as accommodating as I had hoped for with my school scheduled. However, for seasonal positions they are incredibly accommodating and will pretty much let you work whatever shifts you can, and you set the times with HR, and they will remain as your set times for your duration of work there.

    Advice to Management

Consider allowing additional flexibility for students in regards to full time, permanent, positions.

I worked at VF full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work on a number of challenging projects/initiatives, exposure to senior execs - even at junior levels, many talented people, excellent brands and discount on clothing and footwear.

    Cons

Short-sighted view to investment strategy leads to under-investment in brands. Lack of diversity not only on the exec leadership team, but throughout the organization.

    Advice to Management

Invest behind your strategy, think long term (beyond just the social responsibility section of your strategy) and value your people. Consider competency, not just loyalty.

    Cons

    -Low salary

-Not a lot of opportunity for growth

    Advice to Management

You will find more success in compensating and appreciating valued employees rather than losing great team members to keep expenses low.

I have been working at VF full-time

    Pros

Decent work-life balance; little pressure; great brands; little challenge; easy to operate under the radar and collect a good paycheck.

    Cons

Management is mediocre; little diversity; brands lose their identity after acquired by VF; no innovation other than supply chain.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent on what the company goals are, and stop masquerading as a place that cares about people, the brands within your portfolio and raising the quality of what you produce.

I have been working at VF full-time

    Pros

Due to the quantity of brands owned by VF there are many diverse opportunities across the retail landscape all over the world

    Cons

Very limited support for sustainability and future planning as we move into the "economy of sharing" and away from individual ownership

    Advice to Management

Put into work programs to help "save the plant" while making money and be ok with this potentially requiring a large shift away from the traditional business models

  10. "No Diversity, Lack of Care for Employees"

I have been working at VF full-time

    Pros

Best medical insurance package in the area. The company is extremely generously with work/life balance.

    Cons

Extreme lack of care for employee growth and development within the Jeanswear division. More focused on "favorites" and "who-you-know". I noticed a lack of diversity, especially among leadership. 1950s culture.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on "who is next in line for promotion" and more on who is the best candidate for the job.
