I worked at VF (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people and the discount. I made a lot of lifelong friends working for the company and the discount was much higher than any other company I’ve seen.

    Cons

High turnover rate and favoritism definitely plays a role

I have been working at VF full-time

    Pros

Great Benefits. Great Company. Lots of room for growth within the company. Great business model.

    Cons

Currently in the transition of breaking off from VF and becoming our own company (Wrangler, Lee, Rock and Republic). -- I think it's a great thing. But the con is that their seems to be articles online that are misleading the public.

I worked at VF full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Benefits, discounts, flexible work schedule

    Cons

Lack of communication, management, opportunities for growth

    Advice to Management

Jobs are created by management in order to promote favorites without offering opportunities to the rest of the team. Hours and work schedules are altered without warning and associates are told to “step up or you can leave.” Communication is at a minimum and employees are penalized by asking questions when things aren’t clear. Upper management and Human Resources needs to take a look at what managers are allowed to get away with.

I have been working at VF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount you get is really cool

    Cons

There is no stability here. Everything is rush rush rush and VF does not care about work life balance.

I have been working at VF full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are amazing as well as the relaxed culture, and there can be room to grow. We regularily are treated to coffeetrucks /ice cream/food trucks and other events throughout the year like movie day for employee appreciation. We get a great discount on all of our brands and even merchandise from our partners outside the apparel industry. Most buildings have a cafeteria on site and we have access to a company gym close by to work. Even though over 600 people throughout our Greensboro offices (just estimating) everyone gets to know eachother through the social events and cross-functional team structure. Other employees are like family and it makes it a very relaxed environment to work closely with people you're comfortable with. The job responsibilites for me are gradually exposing me to more things that will advance my career and we are given all the appropriate tools and workspace to do our jobs well. Additionally, in my department, their are many opportunities for learning from other departments as part of initial training and opportunities to tour vendor facilities and learn through continuous learning programs and training.

    Cons

Personally I feel like there are certain departments that are not set up to allow growth and this is dehabilitating for some melennials who want to gain lots of experience and move up throughout their career. Also it feels like at a bigger company like this you only get a small slice of the pie and don't get to have as much responsibility or decision making throughout the workday as many decisions have to be dicussed by several different people or groups.

    Advice to Management

Management should be listening to their younger population especially if they want to try to retain them they should try and pave the way for young people to grow or at least be rewarded along the way with title changes or increased responsibililty.

    Pros

Great community; Sales Associates really bond

Store is huge and hard to keep up with, lack of management understanding

    Advice to Management

Give feedback on when associates do things well just as much as when they don't; constant criticism can lead to a lack of caring
