Pros

To gain experience and then move on

Cons

Extreme micromanagement. You are second guessed at everything. It is 55 different companies under one parent. Each company operates differently and it’s either heaven or hell. You must be politically savvy to survive here. Management is highly incompetent and they will throw you under the bus to save their skin. The technically proficient people are put on “performance improvement plans” while the incompetent ones survive and always land on their feet. The entire insurance world is full of ex Berkley people. Don’t be fooled by the stock price because it has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the individual operating units and more to do with Mr Berkley’s superior and savvy financial acumen that rivals Warren Buffet. I love Rob Berkley and did not sell my stock but boy I’d love to have lunch with him and give him a piece of my mind. Do not work here.

Pros

Good salaries and benefits But the experience wasn’t worth the money I made

Cons

Management will let people go with no warning or explanation. Seems like a wonderful place to work at first, then you see a lot of hidden agendas. Company was stronger when the senior Mr. Berkley was in charge.

Pros

Benefits are standard..Employees are great people

Cons

I have read all the other reviews and nothing compares to the Home Office. H.R. is a disaster, everyone is afraid of saying anything, because their job would be at stake. Micromanagement, favoritism, very high work load. Once someone leaves, or mysterious gets fired, they are not replaced, the load goes to the next in line..End of year bonus's are for the boys club, all others are pushed aside, and are lucky they still have a job. Credit to the good employees for there hard work is never appreciated, only if something goes wrong, watch out.....job most likely will be terminated.
