I worked at WORLDPAC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Initially many opportunities to be on the road delivering, reasonable vacation and sick days earned over time. Overtime available to those who wanted it, at least initially.

    Cons

Less and less opportunities to be on the road delivering due to increased use of Third-Party Contract Drivers, many of which I was forced to train to take away my primary (and preferred) tasks of delivering. Daily tasks eventually went from primarily delivering car parts to primarily doing repetitive tasks inside the warehouse all day. Management was rude and very unfriendly most of the time. Forced (and random) overtime restricted personal life. Lunch break often pushed back to end of workday.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring the Contract Drivers that you have so many problems with. Allow your trusted employees to do the most important work, the actual delivering of the parts. Communicate to you employees when they will be able to go home each day. Noone should have to wait to be released every day with no indication of when that might be. Do not allow personal problems to effect how you treat your employees, managers should leave their personal problems at home and not take it out on their workers.

    Pros

There are no Pro's... They looked like they were getting ahead when AAP first took them over but now they want to act independently.

    Cons

Management is terrible.. no direction, lazy, no acknowledgement of work performed. No performance reviews

    Advice to Management

Time to realize you are a part of Advance Auto Parts and start acting like it

    Pros

The management at the location where i worked is very approachable. They actually lead more than just telling you what to do.

    Cons

I think if they pay a bit more this opportunity has potential especially for those in the motoring field. Benefits are so-so

I have been working at WORLDPAC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get discounts on car parts.
I will let you know if I ever find something else that is positive about working here.

    Cons

    Low pay.
Horrid upper management. They can't even all get on the same page.
    Little ability more upwards movement.
    Breaks California labor laws.
    Little to no communication.
No matter how well grounded a suggestion management won't listen unless it comes from them.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. Almost every time there is some information coming down from management each one has a different answer. Talk through what your plan is. Then come up with one answer and make sure everyone has that answer.

Finally look into your policies. A lawyer friend of mine was able to point out half a dozen different things, in about 10 minutes, that were illegal in California. Also thanks for making my experience fantastic after bringing this to your attention.

You might want to think about how to hire younger people. 90+% of your sales force is over 50. You are staying to lose more employees to death or retirement rather than moving to another company.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

If you like to drive, and like or can tolerate light warehouse work it's a great job. WorldPAC is the number one nation-wide company at what they do. The industry is recession-resistant. The workforce in Portland is diverse. Health benefits are decent.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement are slim. Pay is what you might expect for an entry-level job: not stellar, although the raises while not exorbitant seemed to be forthcoming on regular basis.

    Advice to Management

    Good work!
