    I have been working at first direct full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    The culture, ethos and the people are great & as are the benefits; free gym, parking, the pension is exceptional.

    Cons

    The base salary, the systems & processes and that you will be required to do 12 months minimum in call centre before you can look to move anywhere else within the company. That goes for everyone & is all dependant on your team leaders support/approval.

    Advice to Management

    Systems upgrade sooner the better.

    I worked at first direct full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

    Free instant coffee. Was amazing until 2010 then went vastly downhill

    Cons

    Terrible hours. Terrible pay. Look after management dont care about the ones doing the work

    Advice to Management

    Dont use "team manager" positions (including pay rises and privileges etc) as damage limitation.. promote those who are good at their jobs. Dont just promote those you dont trust to interact with customers

    Good salary Free parking Great people to work with Bonus structure Free bupa Excellent pension scheme ( one of the best in a business ) 7 weeks holiday First direct is a fab place to work . All the bad reviews are from people that didn’t actually get the job . Do your homework and you will , been there since it opened and love it

    I worked at first direct full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Great training experience. 12 weeks of getting to know the banking world, great people working there and always willing to help.

    Cons

    Targets targets targets, no wait, it’s conversions you MUST have with EVERY customer, and from these conversations, you are forced to look at how much of these customers are converted into actually taking the product or service! Might be number 1 for their customers, but not for employees in my opinion. Half an hour lunch in a massive building, only 10 minute break - can barely find time to empty your bowels!

    Advice to Management

    Stop micro managing your employees!! Create more opportunities to move up in the bank, recognising colleagues hard work rather than trying tame them into something they ain’t!
