This Black History Month, our Black @ Bose employee resource group invited the entire Bose community to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. Through the month, the group shared interactive newsletters and hosted activities that celebrated the impact of hip hop and Black artists. Some of the topics included sound system culture, advocacy and poetry, the influence of technology, and the global reach of Hip Hop. To conclude the month of celebration, the ERG shared a company-wide broadcast that featured conversations with Hip Hop experts, young poet laureates, touring DJ's, authors, and members of the Black @ Bose community.
Bose Corporation CEO Lila Snyder talks about their new #TurnTheDial campaign that honors women producers. 👏 #ad See how the company is highlighting the women behind the music. #SoundIsPower #BBWomenInMusic
Only 2.8% of popular music is produced by women. We’re proud to share our partnership with She Is The Music, a nonprofit organization increasing the number of women working in music, and producers, H.E.R., PinkPantheress, WondaGurl, and Blond:ish, to #TurnTheDial and make this a stat of the past by celebrating women producers and paving the way for new ones. Throughout Black History Month, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and the impact its Black artists and community have made. Music has the power to connect us all, so as part of our commemoration, employees from across the company came together to learn more about the iconic art form’s origins, global impact, and subcultures. Our Black @ Bose employee resource group invited the larger Bose community to answer the prompt “What does Hip Hop mean to you?” by “tagging” a mural created in partnership with the Women @ Bose employee resource group. The response has been inspiring. #SoundIsPower
We recently celebrated the start of a new fiscal year- and so we chose to celebrate in style! At our corporate headquarters in Framingham, as well as at events around the world, we paused to convene and enjoy time with friends, food, and fun. Spending an afternoon at work with free food, beverages, live music, product demonstrations and giveaways, games.... not a bad way to start the year! Thanks to all the employees who came together to make this event series great.
Black History Month is an annual reminder to reflect on the impact Black people and Black culture have had on the world. This year, we celebrate Black musicians who used their art to give a glimpse into the Black experience. When speeches don’t say enough and snapshots don’t capture the full picture, music has the power to connect us as humans so we can shape our future together. As part of our internal Black History Month celebration, we were thrilled to have two music scholars — Kyle Brooks, PhD. from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio and Deborah Smith Pollard, Ph.D. from the University of Michigan-Dearborn — lead us in conversation about the important role Black protest music plays in uniting all who care about racial equity.
In December 2021, an extraordinary mission to the stars took off from Earth, headed for a point in space one million miles away. The James Webb Space Telescope hurtled into the void, destined to train its highly polished mirrors on the edges of the known universe, and unlock the secrets that have until this point in human history, remained unknown. At Bose, we share a desire to press the limits of what's possible to advance human understanding. So to highlight this pivotal moment, and celebrate a longstanding relationship with MIT, we invited Dr. Sara Seager, astrophysicist and exoplanet research expert, to come to Bose and talk to us about her work on the JWST. Dr. Seager met with our Women@Bose Employee Resource Group, and in partnership with our Bose culture advocacy team, The Mountaineers, engaged in a company-wide virtual broadcast to discuss her work, her life, and her quest for knowledge at the end of the universe. We can't say thanks enough to Dr. Seager for joining us- and for being living proof of what it means to reach for your fullest human potential.
