Trust in advertising is growing… with TV charging ahead. The Advertising Association today released its new Credos Trust Tracker data for 2025, showing that trust in ads continues to grow, with 40% of people now trusting the ads they come across. According to the data, trust in TV grew faster between 2021 and 2025 than in any other medium (46% trust for TV ads) - including online ads (31%) and social media ads (27%) – with TV notably the most trusted medium among 18-34s (62% trust). Our Chief Commercial Officer, Rak Patel, has explored the findings in a deep dive in The Media Leader UK. He predicts that, “trust will increasingly prompt a rethink as advertisers favour trusted environments like commercial public service media (TV), which are nutrient-rich, and nourishing – unlike dopamine-filled environments elsewhere.” 👏

Channel 4’s 2025 Alternative Christmas Message will this year be delivered by US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel has had quite the year - he was briefly taken off the air in September 2025 following comments made in the wake of the murder of Charlie Kirk, leading to widespread protest and debate in the USA about freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Following his return to air and his much-publicised criticism of the US administration, Kimmel will reflect on the past few months in a deeply personal and characteristically jovial address, saying that, “From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.” Kimmel’s address follows in the tradition of other topical presenters delivering The Alternative Christmas Message, which brings viewers a thought-provoking and often very personal reflection that is pertinent to the events of the past year. A Channel 4 spokesperson said, "Donald Trump's return to the White House and wide ranging impact on the world has been the story of 2025 and it would be hard to think of a better person to address it than Jimmy Kimmel, who has found himself on the frontline of America's battle over free speech." You can watch or stream The Alternative Christmas Message on Channel 4 from 5:45pm on Christmas Day.

Last Friday King Charles delivered a message during Stand Up To Cancer, driving awareness of cancer screening and sharing the importance of early diagnosis. It is therefore great to see… 🎉 The screening checker has been visited over 125,000 times since it was launched on December 5, with the majority using the online tool following the special message from King Charles that aired on Channel 4 during Stand Up To Cancer on Friday night. The Screening Checker is a simple, interactive tool designed to help people quickly check which NHS and PHA (Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland) cancer screening programmes they are eligible for, and access helpful advice on the screening process. At least 9 million people in the UK are not up to date with their cancer screening. Screening is a way to detect cancer early when treatment is more likely to be successful, and in some cases can prevent the disease developing in the first place. But, at the moment, many people don’t take up their NHS invitations. Even working out whether you are eligible for cancer screenings can be complicated. To change that, the campaign is launching a simple online screening checker, designed to help people quickly work out if screening is for them. Let’s keep spreading the word! To check if you are eligible for NHS / PHA cancer screening go to www.screeningchecker.co.uk
