Essential and impactful public service broadcasting 1 in 3 viewers of Groomed: A National Scandal said it motivated them to talk to others about the issues raised. This landmark documentary shares the unflinching accounts of five young women who survived sexual abuse at the hands of grooming gangs across the UK. It’s essential viewing that raises awareness, sparks conversations, and pushes for change. As a publicly owned public service broadcaster, Channel 4 is committed to giving a voice to the underrepresented – and, at our most impactful, our content can be a catalyst for social change. “Victims of these sickening crimes [...] will tell their stories, and I hope we will all watch it.” Baroness Hazarika addressing the House of Lords (30 April 2025) Read the research highlights in the comments 👇

Now celebrating its sixth year, Channel 4’s acclaimed insight series is dedicated to exploring the state of play with representation in UK TV advertising. The latest report, created in partnership with research agency Tapestry, shines a spotlight on the positive strides made in inclusive advertising since 2019, while also providing an honest look at current perceptions of representation. Despite encouraging progress, the report reveals that some groups continue to face stagnation and are still subject to narrow portrayals. Unveiled today at a special event hosted by Channel 4 and ISBA, the research identifies three key areas of opportunity for our industry: - The transformative power of storytelling through ad formats - Finding the right balance between aspirational and relatable characters and storylines - Ensuring visibility for individuals who are rarely or never seen in TV advertising
