Channel 4 has today announced the launch of its first ever period policy, alongside a brand-new partnership with pioneering sustainable period-proof underwear brand, WUKA! The policy, created by Channel 4’s gender equality employee network #4Womxn, has been designed to enable employees who are experiencing difficulties with their periods, including health conditions such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), to get the support they need in order to manage their symptoms at work. To mark its launch and in a first for any of the major UK broadcasters, Channel 4 has partnered with reusable period underwear company, WUKA, to offer employees the opportunity to switch to safer, more comfortable, more reliable, and more sustainable period products – with any unclaimed pairs to be donated to humanitarian charity Choose Love. Statement from Channel 4 in response to a decision and statement by the Government. We welcome the Government’s decision that Channel 4 will remain in public ownership. This decision provides a firm basis on which to establish the sustainable direction of Channel 4, safely in the hands of the British people. DCMS having thoroughly examined the business case concluded that the privatisation of Channel 4 is not the best way to ensure its long term sustainability. Furthermore, its decision allows us to do even more to support creative jobs and skills across the UK, to inspire and develop the UK’s world-leading creative industries, and to continue opening up the sector for those aspiring to a career in TV and film. Today Channel 4 becomes the world's first #ReproductivelyResponsible employer! Channel 4 is partnering with Hertility to start a trial offering reproductive health and hormone testing to its employees. Channel 4 will partner with the women’s health company to give employees access to an NHS approved health assessment and blood test which can screen for reproductive health issues. The ‘at home’ blood test can highlight why someone may be struggling to conceive or where a hormonal imbalance may be causing a wellbeing issue. It will clarify what healthcare steps should be taken next, and will guide people to specialist care. Employees will also be offered a series of educational workshops which will focus on different reproductive health issues and hormonal wellbeing. Click on the link to find out more about this!

Channel 4 and Prime Video have joined forces to launch the most extensive examination of access and inclusion provision for disabled talent ever undertaken in the British TV industry. The Industry Access survey will be conducted on behalf of The TV Access Project (TAP), which was launched at the Edinburgh TV Festival to drive improvements in access and inclusion for disabled talent working in TV. It will be sent to all broadcasters and streamers including Channel 4, Prime Video, BBC, Disney, ITV, Netflix, Paramount, and Sky, and is open to every independent production company in the UK. The survey is for organisations to complete, not individuals. The purpose of this survey is to provide an overview of how the TV industry is currently performing when it comes to access and inclusion for disabled talent behind the camera. The insights provided will be used to shape future support, training, tools, and resources to enable the industry to progress even further in this area. #tvproduction #tv #disabilityawareness #disability #inclusion
