We recently surprised two groups of drivers with a special recognition event in honor of the drivers obtaining perfect safety scores for 2023! It was quite an accomplishment for the 39 drivers, who are based in two branches located in the Gulf region. Our Transportation Compliance team worked hard to analyze data from roughly 8,500 drivers, and these 39 were the best of the best. It was a thrill to recognize them for setting a standard of excellence throughout the entire year and for making safety a top priority. Our thanks to our Electronic Logging Device (ELD) system provider for helping us pull the data together and allowing us to recognize our drivers for their efforts!
In 2021, Clean Harbors began a partnership with Purdue Global to enhance its tuition reimbursement program, offering employees a cost-effective way to achieve their career goals while providing the flexibility needed to balance work, family and school. The program, which helps employees obtain #highereducation degrees in a variety of fields, yielded a dozen grads or soon-to-be grads in the past year. One of those employees is Compliance Manager Brita Appoldt, pictured here with her children Nissa and Teagan. Brita completed her #masterofscience degree, and we applaud her and all our grads for their commitment to furthering their careers with Clean Harbors!
Sustainability at Clean Harbors has been recognized on a global scale and stage! The company has been named to Corporate Knights’ 2024 list of the 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. The recognition was announced today in Davos, Switzerland during the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. Clean Harbors was ranked 13th on the list, and was second among all U.S.-based companies. Earning a spot on this prestigious list is a great honor and reflects the value of our business model – to deliver sustainable services to our customers while protecting the environment from hazardous materials. #SustainABILITY #CKG100
From food and clothing drives to volunteering and much more, our employees across North America showed their generosity this holiday season. We are proud to be a part of our local communities and look forward to a great year ahead!
We are excited to announce an expanded partnership this year with Wreaths Across America. Each year the organization oversees the placement of millions of ceremonial wreaths at the graves of veterans, and for the first time this year wreaths can be sponsored through a dedicated Clean Harbors page. And we are once again honored to have been chosen to send a driver to Arlington National Cemetery to assist in Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 16. We look forward to sharing with you the story of our driver and his experience in Arlington following the event.
Proud to make this list for another year. “As women are becoming more prevalent in the workforce of male dominant industries, this recognition shows the commitment Clean Harbors has made to be inclusive and diverse,” said Women’s Employee Resource Group Co-Lead Frances Moore. “We are excited to be part of a company that is working hard to attract and retain more women in this industry.”
Honored to make this list for the first time. We are committed to our people, our process and our planet, and will continue to deliver innovative solutions for our customers looking to create a more sustainable future.
In September, we celebrated National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. We wouldn’t be where we are today without our drivers. Thanks for keeping the business rolling for more than four decades.
We’re honored to have joined the thousands of participants who came out for the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk to raise money for cancer research. As our first year with a team, it was an event to remember for all those involved.
