“Being well prepared for your job interview can help set you up for success. It’s a good idea to take time to research the organization and role you’re interviewing for, which will help you prepare 3-5 questions you can ask the interviewer. Think about your past experiences and roles and come to the interview with different stories and scenarios that could be relevant during the interview. You’ll likely be asked to provide examples of how you’ve handled similar situations. If you’ve already taken the time to think it through, you’ll have an easier time recalling the perfect example. If you’re interviewing virtually, test out the technology ahead of time. Ensure your audio and camera are working and adjust the camera angle as needed before you’re in front of your interviewer. Troubleshooting any technology issues ahead of time will save you time and give you peace of mind.”—Erika, recruiter for Global Business Development.
At Esri we believe you’re never too young to start wearing mappy apparel! Our benefits team recently held a virtual baby shower for new parents and parents-to-be to provide an overview of resources available through Esri and our health providers. This adorable onesie was one of the gifts each participant received, and a few lucky parents also won raffle prizes. Our thanks to UunitedHealthcare and Optum for co-hosting the event in support of our employees as they begin their journey to parenthood!

Meet Amy, a former intern who is now a technical consultant on our public safety and health consulting team in Professional Services! Her favorite part of the internship program was being able to meet and connect with other colleagues at Esri. "As an intern, you get a unique opportunity to spend all day learning about the technology with hands-on experiences while also getting to meet and learn directly from the passionate minds behind the technologies we as GIS professionals leverage day-to-day. For a self-proclaimed geonerd, this was the icing on the cake!" In her free time, she enjoys hiking the San Bernardino and Angeles National Forests, backpacking the Sierras, and snuggling with her Great Pyrenees mix named Winston! "I'm a big fan of condensing resumes into 1-2 pages of relevant experience related to the opportunity you're interested in. If you have too many experiences to list in 1-2 pages, then create a section at the bottom that lists additional experience with employment dates, job titles, and organizations. If recruiters are interested in learning more about those experiences, most will pull up your LinkedIn profile (pro tip: link your profile in your resume). The best resumes list accomplishments in each job, not just a description of their roles." - David, Recruiter for Global Business Development & Software Products 💡 Learn more about current opportunities: esri.com/careers
We are so excited to launch Career Chat, a special series that we have been working on for you all! To help you with your next career move, our recruiters will be sharing some of their most valuable career tips with you. Today, Alice will be kicking things off by sharing her advice on how you can stand out to recruiters on LinkedIn! "When you're reaching out to a recruiter about potential opportunities at their company, be specific in your approach. Reference a recruiter's/company's recent post that piqued your interest in working there. Showing genuine interest means going the extra step and not just submitting a generic resume or request to review your resume. Be specific about which role(s)/team(s) you're interested in. If you're not sure which role could be a fit, note some of your skill sets, suggest a few areas that seem suitable, and ask the recruiter for feedback." - Alice, Recruiter for Professional Services
